| ![]() Bailey came from a nice retired couple who been in the breeding business for quite some time now although when I went to see the yorkies she did have some VERY NICE cover, concreted patio type kennels if I wasn't impressed by the dogs I was impressed with the kennels LOL but she did have a patio and when I went to see Bailey and his sister we went in the breeders home and she let the other adult yorkies roam free, so I believe the kennels were for playtime and she would either let them go on the patio or keep them in the home I can't remember..........but anyhoo I guess we would fall under the catergory of: A backyard breeder/responsible in-home breeder..... ![]()

| ![]() I voted a responsible in home breeder. But I'm not sure what you are considering a home breeder and a back yard breeder? I breed my dogs and I consider my self a reputable breeder, but then there are others here that think all small hobby breeders are back yard breeders. ![]() S, Bell I bought from a women who bred her yorkie with her sisters, Lilly is from Bell's 1st litter and Petey I bought from a women who had three yorkies and a breeding program. She kept them in a converted garage, (attached to her house, warm and cozy) that was very cleaned but smelled terrible (later found out that the smell was from the pro line dog food she gave her dogs, it gave them the worst case of gas) ![]() ![]()

Thank godness that he has no health issues. But for the future if i do get another one i will definetly get the puppy from a reputable breedere!

| ![]() I bought Bailey from a breeder in my area. I didn't know much about Yorkies at the time and paid a lot of money for her. The breeder is a very nice lady and has nice yorkies and Bailey is very healthy. ![]() My second yorkie (I am picking her up next weekend) ![]() ![]()

| ![]() Jo came from an ad in the paper. The lady bought him and it wasn't working out with her other Yorkie because Jo was so small so I bought him from her. Riley came from a small, in home breeder in Florida, I was interviewed for about 3 hours before I was 'approved' to take him and I was given a 1 year health gurantee. |

| ![]() Hannah came from a responsible in home breeder, she may not be a show dog quality but she is perfect for me. Her pedigree has champion bloodlines in it though-what ever that means. |

| ![]() although Buckeye was from a lady that said she couldn't take proper care of him due to failing eye sight, I still feel like he was a rescue because of the shape he was in when we picked him up. she lied about everything about him. Ahia, on the other hand, came from an ad in the paper. I have to say I didn't see anything wrong in her surroundings. the lady was nice and seemed to love her pets. It seemed as if she had just started breeding them. my other 2 was born to a lovely family. I have to say they were more loved than fresh baked bread! they were born to Buckeye and Ahia. All 4 have been spayed and neutered. we don't want to go thru that again!

| ![]() A Reputable breeder in Southern California wants so much $$$. A limited registeration "pet" quality female puppy goes for $2800 and up! I didn't even want to ask what a show quaility pup goes for. Fortunately we got our twins from a fellow YT'er! We are so happy with the girls. Who cares if they are not perfect in an AKC Judge's eyes! They are perfect in our eyes and that's what matters. Our 9-year old Jazzie is a pet store pup - so I guess that makes her a puppy mill pup as well. She is the BEST! Smart, beautiful, silly & friendly - Now she is a "complete" Yorkie!

| ![]() I bought my baby boy, Monster, at a pet store. The seller swore up and down that he didn't come from a puppy mill. When he was 10 months old, I noticed something wrong with his back legs. Turns out he had severe degenerative arthritis in both hips, both kneecaps luxated, and an open fontanel. He was in a lot of pain but still managed to be loving and fun. He went in for surgery and died when his heart fibrillated. I did a lot of research and found out that the seller lied. I also learned a lot about the death camps where these poor pups and their parents have to live. I'm haunted by the thought of Monster's parents and all the other dogs suffering in the mills. I intend to fight to put the mills and the pet stores out of business, but for now all I can do is cry. |

| ![]() I didn't vote as I am truly confused about his breeder. I have always had rescue dogs when I was single. Got married, hubby wants only yorkie if I am ever to have a dog so I search for one. I tried yorkie rescues first, but they have all the condo crappy rules so I was never even considered then I gave up, tried to adopt from a few other rescues with small breeds because I stay in a condo. I wasn't even picky, anything will do; shih-tzu, mix small breeds etc and I talked hubby in to it which he agreed but again I was rudely put on the side a few more times I got so demotivated so I started looking to buy a puppy...I just couldn't go on for long without a dog. I know never to buy from pet stores because they come from puppy mill and I kind of have a rough idea about backyard breeder but this as everyone knows is hard to differentiate. The story was we actually responded to an ad online. We visited his house after hubby got back from work and reached there like 12am at night or should I say morning. I never got to see Siu Pao's parents because they say it was very late and they were sleeping. Siu Pao looked okay to me (actually very cute ![]()
