| I don't leave food down. If I had a 'tiny' or a pup who had problems with hypoglycemia, I probably would but otherwise, no.

| Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | All we feed is dry food, and we leave it down all the time. I'm beginning to wonder if that's a bad idea, because I think he's gaining weight. He gets a lot of exercise, but he gets a lot of doggie treats, too.

| I leave Monkey's dry food out at all times. He's very spoiled...he'll let me know when it needs to be freshened up...usually by mid afternoon. He likes his food fresh out of the container. He'll cratch really hard at the edges of his bowl when he doesn't want what's in his bowl (and he doesn't have much of a choice) or when he wants a fresh refill on food OR water (loves the cold purified water from the fridge)...lol Unfortunately, I do sometimes end up throwing away at least a little food. I try to trick him and mix the food that's been out with a little fresh food from the container, but most of the time, he ain't havin' it.

| We free feed Miko and feed dry food only...He won't eat regular meals, and we measure out how much he's supposed to eat in a day and put it in his bowl. That way, we know how much he's eating and if he's eating enough.

| When Sully was a puppy, he had 3 scheduled feedings a day. He liked to eat a bite here and there but his appetites were not big enough to eat much. That's why we started being strict about it. When he would walk away from his bowl, he got his food taken away!!! It didn't take long at ALL until he learned to eat what was in front of him (as much as he wanted anyway) else it would be taken away! LOL. This also helped with his crate training b/c we learned his poopy-schedule. Now Sully is a year and 5months old and we do 2 scheduled feedings a day. It's just our routine now and I think having mealtimes is good for him...especially since we're going to be getting a new puppy in the next few months. Oh, and we only do dry food, btw.

| My boyfriend and I are gone almost all day (I work various hours (eight to ten hour shifts at most. and John's salary, so they work him or rather he chooses to work hellasious hours.) With that being said, we leave food out all day because of the time frames we work. This way we know he's being fed whenever he's hungry.

| Yorkie Lover Donating Member | We free fed the girls...Magic is very sensitive about having the food taken up so we have just gone to leaving it down all day!! I put out half in the morning and then the other half in the evenings and the girls eat as they choose!!! It works great for us!!

| Gus has he dry food left out for him all day. I give him 1/4 of a cup of fresh dry food every morning. He only eats a bite or 2 at a time but he mostly will finish it by the day is done. I give him wet food in the morning, following a bisket to clean his teeth and after that we brush them. At dinner time he will usually have boiled chicken with rice, and once a week I will give him ground beef or a sliver of steak cut up into very small pieces with rice. But I mostly try to stay to mostly chicken.

| I used to free feed, but we have a cat with urinary issues and he would eat the dogs food. So, due to this they now get fed twice daily. Desiree |

| Yes, we free feed dry food as well. I tried a few times for scheduled feedings but they are more interested in being with us than eating, so free feed it is. Their weight is great and they enjoy their Wellness so its all good! We also give them filtered water(the one snooty thing I like and AM allowed to do...LOL!).

| I use to leave food down all day (Royal Canin), but my vet advised against it. I don't know why...I know Mojo seemed to gain a lot of weight there for awhile (he has since lost it), but he was also getting Greenies at that time to....Anyway, now we do not do Greenies or leave food down all day.
