I could start a club tomorrow called the YTFCA, or the Yorkshire Terrier Fancier Club and develop a "standard" for that club. The AKC recognizes the YTCA standard but for pet owners who could really could care less about the conformation of the dog as long as it is healthy and has the yorkie dispostion I believe having our own breed club with our own standard would be much more representative of the vast majority of yorkie owner's concerns about these dogs. The pet standard I would develop would not allow any unnecessary cosmetic surgery like tail docking or dew claw removel, it would recognize all of the varied color combinations, and there would be more emphasis placed on temperament and personality as the show standard has nothing really....It is paragraphs and paragraphs that go on and on about outward appearance with only a phrase or two about temperament and demeanor. There are thousands of yorkie owners (over 6000 are members here) and only about 500 or so show owners (no member here at YT that I am aware of is a YTCA member)who are trying to control what the important characteristics are for this lovely breed and impose that upon us as companion dog, or pet owners. I think it is a little wierd imo.

What is that supposed to mean?Do you all think I should be offended by her post? I know I sound defensive and I shouldn't be maybe but being accused of "not putting things into action" is not something I am very often accused of. I actually need to learn to say NO!!! I currently wear many different hats and juggle a full time job, four children, charity work, pro bono legal work and then my five dogs....LOL....my friends and family would laugh if they read what you so insultingly posted! Why do you feel the need to belittle me? I just co-chaired a Holiday Home Tour for our local middle school foundation this past monday night. I am the recording secretary on the Board. I am leaving today as a chaperone for my daughter's cheer team who qualified for Nationals in Orlando. I have "adopted" two low income families for Christmas and one Homework Club Child form a local disadvantaged school. As for my yorkies, I am on here way too much but love it! I am constantly assisting members who are looking to train their dogs as service animals, I help many with simple legal issues when they arise, I educate and offer research citations in the areas of over vaccination and neutering (2 areas of great concern to the health of our dogs), and I use the Amazing Adventures of Cap'n Hef to educate about small dog safety. I belong to the San Diego Yorkshire Terrier Meetup Group that is very large and meets monthly, I train my dogs individually daily as they are service dogs and love to learn new behaviors. I take them to the dog park often and dote on them constantly. I am quite busy and capable of multitasking well. I don't "jump into things" without taking the time to thoroughly research all of the ramifications but I would love to start a club if I knew it wouldn't overwhelm my family life. I don't know why you feel the need to challenge me about this in this manner as it is just an idea I have been kicking around and have just begun to really consider it. I will have my one year anniversary as a yorkie mommy this month so it is still all very new to me. If anyone is interested in the prospect of being a charter member of such a group please PM me and let's see what the interest level is. Last edited by SoCalyorkiLvr; 12-07-2005 at 07:39 PM.

It seems that people are holding a few grudges from your last thread (i didn't see anything wrong with that one either as i stated in that thread). People just need to LET THINGS GO and get on with it. We need to be one happy family again!

I dream of Jeannie was one of my favorite shows when I was a young girl!Marie: Thank you too and I LOVE that you are loving my little Bitsy's tail How sweet of you to say that!!! Bitsy is one of the girlyest yorkies I have ever seen...when I bought her and I saw her tail, I don't remember thinking that much about it at all. My other three have docked tails and I love them too but I wouldn't and couldn't imagine Bitsy without hers It just fits her so well!

| Another example. Not a great picture of him. Oliver was a beautiful Yorkie and boy could he wag that tail. He would carry it up and high most of the time. |

I am glad you started this thread so I could show it off, LOL And to really get the full effect you'd have to see it in person!! I'm just tickled all over because Bitsy got some very nice compliments on her pretty little tail

| I would purchase aYorkie with an undocked tail if it captured my heart the way Buddy & Jake did when I first seen them. But then again, I love all animals. |
