YT 500 Club Member | I'll admit, it was my mom who wanted a Yorkie. She'd wanted one for years, me? I prefered bigger dogs. Then we got Rambo from a friends mom at work. He was a dream, then I decided I'd like to have a go at showing, brought some books and descovered we had two well known, respected breeders within a few miles. Got in touch with one and got the third degree- so far so good- then I went to look at a little girl he had picked out for me to look at and I was completely smitten. That was my Myshkha, she ran across the floor, piddled and then attacked her breeders laces. Just couldnt resist. I do look at other breeds sometimes but couldnot immagine my life without one or more of these beautiful little dogs to love. |

| my first my first yorkie picked me--she was tiny and in a puppy mill, she looked at me and i knew she was mine-sadly she died 4 yrs ago and because of her bad start and non-contact she never ever licked me or wagged her tail but she loved me all the same--i am disabled so i chose the yorkie for the small size, easier on my disabled limbs |

| We lost our beloved dog (who was a member of our clan) in 2000--ever since then, my daughter begged for another dog. We said no, too much travel and crazy life. I also have massive health/breathing issues--so found that without dog hair I could breathe easier. She didn't stop--always begging for her dog. At a concert, I saw a little yorkie and thought ---oh so cute--would love one--that might work. I began the quest....and saving--our budget is super tight. Then I met the sweetest dog on the face of the earth--one of my friends had just adopted a beautiful little girl from a wonderful breeder in Iowa--about 3 hours south of us. I checked out the breeder and fell in love with our little beauty! Her price was WAY out of our league---but, knew my daughter needed this dog. So, cleared out my secret stash I had saved for a 20th anniversary trip for hubby and I and brought her home. She is the JOY of our life and has been transforming for my daughter! We love her and she goes everywhere with us--best decision we ever made! |

| I had a friend who had one, as I was around it more and more decided my next dog would be a yorkie. I love there small size and non shedding too since I have allergy problems that was another plus for them. I'm on my third yorkie now. There in a class by themselves!!

| Needed something to hold and cuddl. Needed something small to take in our RV. Checked out all the small breeds and loved Yorkies the best. Their eyes don't bulge, they are hairy, but don't shed, small enough to fit in a carry bag. After getting my Yorkie for a birthday present, I fell in love with her independence, humorous antics, split personality, and the way she wraps her "daddy" around her little dew claw!

| I didn't really have a choice in the matter. I was actually in the process of rescuing a weenie dog when my mom called me and asked if I wanted a yorkie. Apparently my moms friend lives next to a super crapy puppy mill in PA and the dogs escape and the owner never tries to get them back. Well my moms friend recues the puppies and gives them out to good homes. Shilo lived on the street for about two weeks untill my moms friend saw her almost get hit by a car and then she finally got ahold of her. Well I got her she had a great personality from the day I got her but she didn't know how to bark or play or run, nothing! It was so sad! Unfortunatly my moms dog taught her how to bark lol. She was matted and super stinky but I couldn't take her to the groomers till she got all her shots so I febreezed her lol! But she's great now I'm so glad I got her beacuse I LOVE the yorkie breed!

| Honestly, I'm not even entirely sure. I knew I wanted a dog and was ready for the responsibility. I really just wanted a cool companion. I grew up with a Golden Retriever and a German Shepherd and always loved bigger dogs. Living at home still, my step-dad is allergic to dogs so I knew I was going to have to find a "hypo allergenic" breed for his sake. I had looked into Australian Shepherds, Goldens, etc but knew it couldn't happen. Plus, I figured it WOULD be easier with a small dog when it came to traveling, etc. I began looking online and fell in LOVE with this photo of a little male Yorkie. I did a bit of research on the breed and kinda got scared. I wasn't sure. But something kept luring me back to that one dog (aka Jackson). I finally made the call, went to visit him a week later, and I had my dog. The first week I had him I started reading things online, health issues, yappers, etc. He's none of the above! I like his attitude, his athletic-ness, and I kind of like that he's larger at 12.5lbs. I don't know, I just got really lucky!
