We cruised together last November and I was pleasantly surprised at how much she WAS able to eat tho. Not near what I was able to eat, but more than I imagined possible for her...

OMG......I'm sorry

I can't imagine my diet being that limited.....I know my SIL does fairly well with finding gluten free choices, but adding in the other things would make it pretty difficult

so i saw the posts on the pizza cheese on the chin. i've done that. my roomie in college did a pretzel with cheese inside and got the cheese on her chin and it left blisters. horrible...

i think i almost threw up from eating the tiny pinky drop of the buffalo wild wings blazin sauce. i don't think i'd do well with any major hot chilis. i need to go test my scoville scale. see how hot i can do.

Just saw this thread. I'm definitely a spice person. I adore seasonings, but not to overseason.
Like if you have a delicate fish, you want to subtly season/spice it, so that the fish flavour itself isn't overpowered.

But with more robust meats/dishes, more robust seasonings. I love when you eat something there is the formost flavour, and then bam, another flavour burst upon your tongue.

My pet peeve is that for the "exotic spices" they sell them in too big of a jar. I like fresh spices, and if there is a spice you only use once in awhile, then it goes stale. Cardomon, Cinnamon, Tumeric. I do have a spice grinder and I'm slowly switching over to buying fresh unground spices.

I do like salt but rarely cook with it; but with other spices and various types of fresh ground pepper I do. Adore garlic, and parsley and cilantro. Thyme, marjoram, and basil.

This I know well. I'm allergic to shellfish and anything that eats shellfish. When I go out I even have to be careful of the way my food is prepared. If they prepare my food in the same pan or same spot on the grill that shellfish was cooked...i'm toast! I'n Hawaii seafood is such a big thing. I was more comfortable eating out in Japan because of their safe/clean cooking practices. They have a belief of always cleaning and wiping down surfaces and utensils when cutting and cooking different dishes. (Which it sould be like that everywhere) Something about a food should never touch another food while being prepared...it needs to be "pure" or something like that.

I had to be whisked away to the ER before for cross contamination...and during a wonderful dinner at a beautiful restaurant because my parents were visiting from Texas.

I felt so bad and kept apologizing..my mom was just being mom and telling me not to worry about it.
