| ![]() I have been full circle regarding what we are eating...right back to nearly fifty years ago when we were broke newlyweds living in Boston while my husband went to graduate school. Back to my Julia Child roots of breaking down any meats and using every bit of anything that we had. Making double batches of anything that I cook, and hoping that I can process any fresh produce and fill the freezer with enough food to not have to go out for a few weeks. So far freshly made chicken and pork chow mein, coq au vin, beef bourgandy, and plenty of soups...beef barley, vegetable and, of course, chicken. Today will be processing a double batch of beef stroganoff, and preparing a corned beef brine with beer. Working hard to make everything really tasty, use healthier ingredients and low salt versions, and happy to report that we are both still losing weight slow and steady. Trying to walk the dogs and get our exercise every day unless the heat is too oppressive. The goal...come out of this quarantine healthier, and more grateful, than when it began. ![]()

| ![]() Had a Jimmy Dean egg, cheese, sausage biscuit and a cup of black coffee for lunch. One night last week, I had a bowl of cereal for dinner with extra processed, white sugar! I mostly eat fresh, uncooked produce, all chopped or cut up together, veggies, salt-free nuts, fresh fruit, etc. in a salad with pepper, extra extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and lemon dressing I make from scratch, with whatever spices I want to throw in and mix up. Sometimes I add 2 T. Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter that has only peanuts and salt in it to the half piece of whole grain bread I allow myself per day. Or for a splurge, add a bit of light Ranch dressing to my salad, eat homemade healthy soups with little to no meat, whole grain bread, beans cooked from scratch, high-fiber cereal with less than 20% sugar, hardly ever any processed food. I have eaten like a monk or something for 4+ years now but every so often, I go on a junk food protest binge and eat things I know are unhealthy, starving for meats, cheese, sugar, etc. So then I try to pay back my health conscience, after eating junk, I walk 25 minutes fast or do extra exercises and no matter how hungry I get, don't eat for 6-12 hours or more. Went to bed absolutely starving last night after an early dinner Sunday night, had a bland health smoothie for early breakfast and by lunch, I was utterly starving for meat/cheese and fats, wanted junk food absolutely oozing with fatty flavors, opened my freezer and out came the Jimmy Dean breakfast biscuits! Added some grape preserves, too and brewed my SECOND cup of black coffee for the day! Recently, have had Pepperoni Pizza, Whataburger with fries, chocolate malt, kid's cereal with white sugar, even some cookies from a little snack pack package and a slice of Key Lime pie! Am on the Health Hell Express this past 2 weeks!

| ![]() My son asked me what he could have delivered here for Mother's Day lunch and of all the restaurants delivery, my one wish was for a Popeye's Chicken Sandwich and fries. I've seen all the ads for them, been to my Popeye's numerous time but the line of cars is just prohibitive since they started offering "the" sandwich. So I'd worked up a considerable desire to try one despite all the MSG, sugar and who knows what other unhealthy additives they add to make that meat so moist and tasty and mine did not disappoint. Delivered still hot! The chunk of chicken white meat on the plump, tall, fresh, warm bun was huge, moist and the best piece of chicken meat I've ever had! The chicken crust was crispy but not overly greasy, thick or fatty tasting. Mayo and pickles were a great foil to the chicken flavor and add hot fresh-fried French fries and salt, pepper, ketchup to it was extra tasty. So Sunday Mother's Day dinner was half a huge crispy chicken sandwich, fries w/ketchup and Diet Coke. That half was so much food, I actually got sick to my stomach, had to walk 25 minutes afterward to keep from feeling so full! Later that night, actually had the other half, rest of the fries! Second half every bit as good! Was totally prepared for it just to be another version of a friend chicken sandwich patty but it's a hunk of meat that was is definitely different from all the rest, far too tasty, succulent and fresh-tasting for my own good as now I want one a week!

| ![]() I'd been to this Popeye's for take-out order of fried chicken years before, wasn't impressed, so didn't expect much from "the" sandwich that has been such a hit but it met every expectation. A second one can't possibly be that good, can it? And yes, 98% of Dallas restaurants I've been to are pretty great, clean, mostly overcrowded with huge servings of food. All but the fanciest serve enough food at a single meal for 3 diners to share if we did things like that!

| ![]() Had to run several errands and stopped by a Dominoes closest to my house for a large, double Pepperoni Pizza Pie. Dominoes isn't my favorite but it was convenient and no line! Smelled heavenly on the way home, nearly swooned while driving, almost immediately polished off 1 1/2 slices all by myself once I got home! Haven't overeaten that much pizza in years but I was starving to death! That and a Diet Coke, a sprinkle of hot pepper and Parmesan Cheese over-perfected it! Packaged away all of the rest of it right into the freezer! Had freshly made chicken salad and stew in the fridge could have warmed up but pizza won out. Tired of eating my cooking. Now time to put my feet up, relax and watch some television.

in her photo looked hot, fresh, ready-to-eat, so tasty-looking you could almost smell the different scents, taste the flavors and so delish and I always went to bed hungrier than ever! Got so some nights I had to avoid her posts!
