But one thread that just blew me away was the one that was about whether or not you could put your more expensive knives in the dishwasher. WHOA. I mean, WHOA. Pandora's box, I tell you! People got all hotheaded, links were furiously thrown in here, there, everywhere. By the end of the thread, I still didn't know if it was okay or not to dishwash, LOL! I forgot to say yesterday, the thing I love the most about CH are the restaurant review threads (by regional area, like southwest, east coast etc) -- I mean, people really care about giving good recommendations and you can get so many ideas about where to eat in your area. I love hearing reviews from true 'foodies'.

That is my favorite part. Sometimes you get a bad rec but for the most part I have found some real gems on the regional boards

| Chowhound is not bad but you really don't know who these people and IMO some of them are frauds having some association with the place trying to get people to eat there. Yelp is much better. They have reviews for every restaurant, bakery, anything related to food. And it's much like here where you see people's profiles and how many reviews they have done so you know they are legit. I rarely go anywhere before reading Yelp reviews, and unlike the limited chowhound yelp reviewers post photos of the food and location so yes it's a fabulous resource for any level of foodies. |

| Oh I know, for certain things like finding good peanut butter chowhound is great. But Yelp zero's in the one place if you've never better been there before and want to know as much detail as possible about it. |

| I love yelp, but it has let me down a few times, but has also helped me too. I think you just have to take into consideration the type of people who would review a place. For example, and AYCE sushi place is not gonna get high marks from say asian people who like their food authentic, but may rate high with people who like quantity over quality. Then my most fave mexican place has practically no reviews even though the food is great, bc I doubt their clientele know about yelp or even use the internet much for that matter. Just like on YT, you have to get to "know" the reviewers and learn who your tastes are most like, follow them, and find out new places that way.

Very true. A lot of my favorite Mexican restaurants have clients who don't own cell phones or computers but they like Mamma's cookin'
