Wow great help!! I will do that now..I have frontline too..its the spray type that dries extremely quick..you think its ok to bathe the kittens when they are this young?

Dang cant use the Frontline Spray on nursing cats..I will have to see if the vet can give me a tube of the Frontline Plus tomorrow...I changed the bedding and put the kittens in a new box..that way if there are any eggs in the old bedding I will wash them away in my washer..which I am doing right now lol...little buggers!!

One question an expert might be able to help me with..I have seen a couple FLEAS on the kittens!! I am contantly checking my dogs and cats for fleas and have yet to find one this year so this is a bad sign!! What can I do for the kittens?? I know they are way toooooooooooo young for flea meds..and I dont think I can put any on Flower can I? I know fleas can make baby kittens anemic if there are too many so for now I am just picking them off as I see them but I know they lay a zillion eggs..what should I do?????

I called my vet. She said that you can not bath a mother cat because she needs all her oil while nursing and you can not bath newborn kittens at all, with anything. The only thing she said you can do is put revolution on the mama cat,and it has to be revolution, not advantage or frontline or anthing like that. and then comb the fleas off the babies with a flea comb.

I do not agree with this as i've bathed both mothers and kittens many time over the past 12 years working in shelters and vet offices. Frontline is safe for nursing and pregnant mothers as is Revolution.

So in this case, sweetr72, i would call your own vet and see what he says and then decide what you want to do.

I will definetly call tomorrow morning...I read online that you cant use regular frontline but you can use frontline plus for nursing mothers...and dont worry there is not way on Gods green earth I COULD bathe Flower...she would hurt me bad lol...did you see the new pics I posted earlier today?? I dont want you to miss out on those ones too hehehe...

I would not bathe kittens that young, They dont even have their eyes open yet and can catch very bad colds and get sick easy at that age. If you can not bath the mother then theres really no sense in doing the kittens. There are so many sprays and flea meds that you can not use on the kittens or the mother If it gets on her titts the babys will suck and get toxic from the sprays. I would call the vet and ask what they thought. For now I would just keep changing boxes and wash blankets every other day and vacum everyday or every other day to try and keep them from getting any worse.then once the kittens are older bath them, and treat the momma.

I totally agree with you...I am calling the vet tomorrow...I certainly dont want to hurt or even worse kill the babies...

I couldnt get to MY vet today since they are an hour from me (I moved a year ago and hate to switch vets) so I went to a local one and explained about Flower...they refused to sell me a tube of the flea stuff without weighing her even though I weighed her at home..THEY want to weigh her theirselves..so I have to bring her and the kittens in and have to wait until next week now..grrrrr..just so they can weigh her..nothing more nothing less...just a weight...some peoples children..lol..

that's stupid. Frontline plus only comes in one size for cats and its up to 22lbs i believe.
