| I have a toy poodle and you'll find they are exceptionally loving, and a lot less hyper. I love my little Suiki, but then I love all of them.

| We had a red toy poodle for 15 years. His name was Daxton (Dax). He weighed about 7 pounds - until his last couple years when he had a heart condition and dropped to about 5 pounds. His first 8 years or so he was copper penny red though. He lightened up to a little bit darker than apricot later - I guess that's their way of going "grey" in old age. Yours looks like it might have had one apricot-colored parent (or maybe even grandparent) since she's a bit lighter than the typical red poodles but darker than your average apricot. My Dax was probably the most loving dog I have ever had. He was my "first born" - before marriage and before the skin kids. I always thought poodles were supposed to be "yappy, hyper" dogs but Dax was the most laid back little boy. Remember that all the things you've learned about Yorkies pretty much apply to toy poodles also. No leash attached to a collar - they can have collapsed trachea problems. And luxating patella problems too.... Dax had a mild version of it in one leg. Enjoy your poodle..... she's adorable! Edited to say.... I just read your post again and saw that you said that poodles are different from Yorkies. I always comment that Tatum (our Yorkie) is so similar to how Dax was. I think it's all in their environment..... Dax was extremely laid back and so is Tatum. I think it has so much to do with how your family is.

| I have a red female toy poodle too! I did have a black with a red parent male, but found him a pet home when I started getting the Biewers. I did not want poodle Biewer accidents. Gracie my poodle is a baby. She whines and cries, but is very smart and loving. |
