				   | I saw a web site that asked you questions to help you select a breed. i dont' remember where the site was but you might find something like this doing a search on google for yahoo. I will see if i can find it for you.

				   | Well as far as calm and friendly...that can be any of the dogs you mentioned really..its all how they are trained and raised...do some research on each breed and see which one fits your lifestyle the best..of course most of us are partial to yorkies here hehe...finding a great breeder is also a good idea..a good breeder will tell you right upfront if the breed they have is a good match for you and your family..good luck in your search.. | I've owned poms, poodles, yorkies, and maltese and they aren't really calm dogs. You have to take into account what the dog was bred for. A Yorkshire terrier was bred to kill rodents. Maltese were bred for companions. I can't remember what the pom was bred for but you need to consider that a pom has a double coat and it sheds alot! (Even with brushing.) A yorkie and maltese don't shed like other dogs they shed more like humans. Poodles in my expereince are hyper dogs also. I don't know about Chihuahuas since I've never owned or know anyone who has owned a chi. It sounds like you've narrowed down your choices. Good luck picking a dog, it is a hard decision. You've picked some great breeds.

				   | Of the breeds that you have listed..........I have been around them all and the only one that was even remotely calm was a Maltese. NONE of the others are. And even a Maltese will have their moments. You listed some "yappers" too!!! Quote:

				   | I think a Maltese would be the calmest of the breeds you mentioned. I have a Yorkie now and have had one in the past and love them to death but I would like to have a Maltese as well . We travel a lot and my husband has consented to traveling with our Yorkie but he would have a fit if I got another dog. |

				   | I would say a Yorkie or Maltese. All the yorkies I've had have been pretty calm. I've never had a Maltese...I just think they're cute! |

				   | I have a yorkie and a maltese and if you want calm, I would go for the maltese. She likes to sit on your lap and fall asleep and then my little boy yorkie loves to run and play. He doesn't really like to sleep a lot. They are both so cute though. Any dog you get, you will fall in love with them so it really doesn't matter!

				   | HI! There is a great list of breeds to choose from if you like small breed dogs! I love yorkies too! My little girl will be turning 6 this year... I can hardly believe. I've been doing some research on getting a Chinese Crested! I think they're so neat looking! According to... http://www.small-breed-dogs.com/ChineseCresteds.html They are pretty calm, get along great with other pets, they don't shed and have very few potential health problems. Hope this helps! Brooke |
