| HELP!! Mia is trying to kill Poe. Or, I just don't know why in the world she is biting his neck. Okay, let me back up. Poe is our one-year-old neutered cat, and he is the sweetest, quietest cat on the face of the planet. Mia, our 11 week old Yorkie, attacks Poe everytime she can. She starts chasing him, and then jumps on him, knocks Poe on the ground and starts biting. I don't mean playful biting, I mean real biting, the way she does with her plush toys. Poe starts making uncomfortable noises, and then starts hissing. By that time we pick Mia up. This all happens within a minute. Poe is so sweet, he never attacks back. We really want them to get along and be friends. Does anyone have cats and Yorkies? Is there a way to make Mia more friendly towards Poe?

| Babies play like this. She probably thinks Poe is her personal toy. Eventually Poe will get mad and give her a good whack. My daughter's very large Ragdoll cat lived with us for 6 weeks this summer. Sissy thought it was just a blast when Princess would swipe a paw at her and hiss. That just meant MORE play!! Princess would tolerate it for so long and then jump to places where Sissy cannot. Seriously, Poe really doesn't like Mia doing this, she will get away from her. You might want to let them be together a little longer and only intervene if it gets really bad. The only way they will learn to play together nicely is to let them figure it out. Good luck to you all!

| I agree. Ginger still attacks Fun Kitty sometimes and yet I've learned that he can EASILY avoid her and even back her off when he chooses. Sounds like your puppy's just playing (you even said he bites hard like shes one of the toys). Anyway, cats are pretty smart (as a dog lover it pains me to say this...but I think they're smarter than most dogs), and your animals will work this out. I used to wish Ginger and FK would be "friends" (I had images of them cuddling), but see now that they get along in their own way. Interestingly, Kirby (the old dog and the animal who's lived here the longest) and Fun Kitty will often sleep on the same bed...If Fun Kitty's there first Kirby just lays down beside him. I think when I brought the puppy (Ginger, now almost 2) into the house it just cemented the older guys friendship. lol

| Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. It is so difficult to know what is normal when I haven't seen other pups and cats interact. I feel better about Mia and Poe's relationship now. We will let them do their own thing while watching very closely to intervene if things seem to get out of hand. I know Mia wants friends to play with, and I know Poe does too, but they play in very different ways. I am afraid they will misunderstand each other and end up hurting each other. I think things would calm down a bit more when Mia grows up too. She is a little ball of energy right now, and Poe is a big wise boy. It is actually kind of funny to see Mia pull Poe down because he is so much bigger than her. But then I feel bad for Poe. He used to be the king of the house, and now there is a little bitch that usurped his throne. Poor kitty cat, he can't even sleep on our bed anymore. We do our best to give him a lot of attention. Well, I hope things will get better eventually because we love them both sooooo much.

He dont bite his neck anymore!! |

| Tootie thinks that my cat, "Me-kitty" is a playtoy... Me-kitty knows he has to stay UP where Tootie cannot reach him.... Tootie doesnt mean to hurt him but it sure is aggravating to the cat.... one day kitty will teach him to leave him alone....
