My child has an obsession about Disney Princesses and wanted to name her dog Cinderella! I said, "you can't name a hound Cinderella!" Anyway, between Trixie licking her foot and the bird laying eggs...I am about to go nuts! | |

| This much egg-laying isn't good for a bird. It often runs down their health. A bird can also become egg-bound - not a good thing! There are some things that you can do to help her stop laying so many eggs. First, remove any nesting area or materials from her cage that might be causing her to nest and lay eggs. Also - the amount of sunlight she is getting every day affects her wanting to lay eggs. (Can't remember the details on that!) Many people remove the eggs almost immediately. Others replace the eggs with one of the little artifical similar eggs from a craft store. Here's what you need to do. Go to BirdTalk.com. There is a forum there that has hundreds of posts about the exact problem you are having. Believe me - many of the people on BirdTalk are the experts you are looking for, and they can certainly help you with this problem. PS: I have a 9-month old Sun Conure (about the same size as your cockatiel) I don't know if it's a male or female. So, I may have an egg or two in my future. But for sure, the number of eggs your little bird is laying -- is not healthy! Good luck! Carol Jean |

| My mom has a cockatiel also, and when she lays eggs, she gets a bit aggressive until about a day after she takes the eggs away. She says that she just makes sure to give her lots of love after she takes away the eggs...I don't really know how much this helps, but just wanted to let you know that my mom is in the same boat! Let me know if you find anything out

| Hey, thanks for the info. I will go to BirdTalk and check it out. She is in a room w/ alot of light...She's been laying about 2-3 every other week or two. The lady I got her from told me about some specific vitamin drops to put in her water for used when egg oaying w/ extra calcium. She said some of hers have done this and then stopped after a few months. Yes, I have been watching her for egg-binding. I've been checking her each day. Thanks Again! |

| I have a pretty boy cockatiel that I would gladly give to you-too bad I don't live near you, he'd be yours tonight!! hehe. Jinx is a very friendly and pretty boy, but he's LOUD in the morning. There is no sleeping in past 6:30 am at our house!! Plus, my yorkies think he is lunch, so he doesn't get to come out of the cage that much because he is too curious about the Yorkies and is not afraid of them. He wants to see them so bad, he tries to fly right to them. He can sing the Razorback fight song, which may not be so welcome in 'bama...LOL My husband keeps trying to give him to anyone that comes over and admires him..."you want him? He can sing the razorback fight song" is his favorite saying. If you are an early riser, this bird is for you..
