Seeing the ONcologist this early evening I did post earlier on what the oncologist said over the phone. Now for some news that I received when I went to pick up Zoey: 1. Opthamology re-check - uveitis is resolved. Pressure in eyes is Low. Risk of this is retinal detachment. Prognosis. Guarded. Eye drops back to every four hours. 2. Cardiology - good report - Normal Healthy heart - NO SIGN of heartworms!~!!:D 3. Oncology - as reported in earlier missive. I did not mishear over the phone - doc did say she is worried we might lose Zoey. Especially if this doxy drug doesn't take swelling down along with the back to 50mg of predisone daily. Her swellings at throat are interferring with her swallowing reflex - that is why the gagging/regurgitating of water when she drinks. Hopefully this chemo and increased steroids will bring this down so Zoey can be more comfortable. Zoey has an aggressive form of this cancer. :( Zoey refused her homemade food tonight with all the good things in it. But I had some rare cooked beef and hand fed her about 4 ounces or so. She loved it! lol.... I think she is spoiled.... Maybe I should make meat balls of her home made food and hand fed that to her:p Never the less tomorrow I will buy some more steak and salmon and grill them for her. For me this board, this place to write out to a caring membership, what we are going through is a godsend. Thank you all for being here, for being willing to listen and for all your prayers and kind words. |
Gail, The poem is beautiful as is your little Zoey. I pray today that she did well with treatment and this cancer begins reponding. Sending you hugs and hoping for a better report later this evening when you pick her up. |
Prayers continue for Zoey and your family. I am sure there are many others like me that may not always post, but are watching your thread daily and praying for your precious Zoey. Your poem is beautiful.....your love shines thru in every post! |
Praying tomorrow will be a better day and that Zoey will be able to eat more. |
Your love for Miss Zoey is so obvious it brings tears to my eyes. She is one lucky girl to have the family and all the love that she does. I've gotten so attached to her through your writings, I wish I was there to give her a big hug, but you'll have to do that for me. And give her kisses too, please. |

Today's Update Success she ate lunch!!:) A full 1.5 lb of food The golfball sized swellings to either side of her throat are down, as well as one under the right side of her jaw. Chest swelling is still apparent, and groin nodes are down. my fingers are crossed that she continues to come down in the swelling area. She is feeling better cause when I got home this afternoon - my escape artist escaped her crate;) This is the fourth kind of wire crate we have tried. I am pretty sure the aluminum full side crates I saw one time at a show she couldn't escape from. We might consider purchasing one of those. So here's hoping she eats dinner tonight for hubby. |
I'm so glad Zoey ate lunch!! Hope dinner times goes well too! Continued prayers for Zoey. |
How wonderful to hear that your beautiful Zoey ate so well and about the reduction in her swelling. Miss Houdini must be feeling better if she is up to her old tricks. Your post full of hope is music to my ears. |
