I'm just seeing your thread today about Zoey and I'm so sorry that she's so sick and that you're going through this with her. How heartbreaking for all of you and sad for little Zoey too.

I just wanted you to know that I'd keep her in my prayers to and sure hope you get some encouraging news from her specialists.

I have been thinking about you and Zoey all day. I know in my heart that you always act in the best interest of all your babies and that you giive them a loving, fun-filled, and magical life. I keep you and Zoey in my prayers and my heart always. We care so much and are here to support you.

Gail, I am thinking of you and Zoey, praying the oncologist has encouraging news for you. No matter what, Zoey knows she is loved and you have given her a great life. I keep going back to what Mike said about loving them while we have them.

Oncologist Visit and Update
 

Well Zoey weighs 32 kg a drop of 2.3 kg or 5lbs from last wk, an over drop of 14kg from her healthy weight. Unfortuantely the vet did palpate some minor swelling in two of her lymph nodes.

We discussed with the oncologist just what this means. And she said, she has shown to be multi drug resistant, we can tinker with the chemo drugs, but prognosis is not good. You might have another 2mths or less maybe up to 6mths on chemo.

We have decided to do steroids only. She will live a full life until it is time to let her go. My tears have been shed over these past few weeks, and I'm sure I have some more tears, but we will create as fulfilling a life for her as possible over these next few weeks.

On the way home we stopped at a favourite park, and she ran and chased her toy. She had a grand ole time. We bought some bones for the pups, and she tucked into hers with gusto.

I really don't know what else to say, this is the first time I've been in this place with a pup of mine. I do know that we have made the right decision for Zoey, and for ourselves.

Laugh, love, play with your dogs every day, this is the way, for we truly only have our loved ones for so many moments in time.

I am so sorry, Gail. I love what you wrote about our dogs. After he saw how worried I was all the time over Ashley, my vet kept telling me to just enjoy her. I have been hoping you'd see Zoey running and playing in the park, and I have envisioned that in my mind several times. Zoey has known more love in her short lifetime than most dogs who have lived very long lives. Our moments are certainly limited, but love is surely endless.

Seeing Zoey run and enjoy herself at the park must have brought some comfort.

Zoey is blessed to have a family who loves her so dearly. It is wonderful to hear that she ran at the park and enjoyed her bone. The simple joys our dogs can experience, teach a lesson or too about life.
This is the toughest part of having these precious companions in our life, and even more reason to enjoy each moment we have with them. I am so sorry for all you and Zoey are going through and sending prayers and hugs for you and your family.

Thank you my friend. Seeing Zoey run, brought laughter to my heart. We had been protecting her from the outside too much, because of her weakened immune system. Now we don't need to. We have another fav park visit planned for this wkend, weather is forecasted to be great. And she needs another bath..cough..not her fav activity;)

How beautiful; "love is surely endless", I believe that to be so true. Well she will get to play more this wkend, and I hope to get some good videos of her n Magic at play.

What is so special my friend, is that our dogs have taught me to laugh more, to love more, to be more present in the moment. Silly story, I sometimes sing and dance to my dogs; and Oh My, do they re-act. It is a real hoot. Magic tries to follow me around in a heel when I'm doing this, and then gets so excited and barks. Razzle dances in front of me, and Zoey when I hit a particularly awful note will bark. Ballyhoo, so much fun

All I have to say in a certain tone of voice, is "where are your toys" And they go excitedly around trying to find them. We play games of hide n seek inside the house, and that is a great hit. Hubby doesn' like it when I do it, because it can be quite noisey:) I guess at heart I'm still a kid;)

Thank you. Even in breeder circles I'm known as that "crazy" dog lady. And that takes some doing;) I've travelled 8 hrs for a wkend to only "do" dock diving with my dog. I've swum my boy on Sat afternoon after a show day cause it was too hot out; and he picked up these awful and I mean awful green stickie thingies from the water. My show dogs live a very full life, and are full of vim n vigor. While they do spend time in their crates, they do NOT live in them.

I really, really want to enjoy our time right now. We are going out tonight together to look at the moon. I'm going to see if she will "howl" along with me:D
