| Big Dog Small Dog-Help needed! My husband's dog, Falcon, is an EskiPoo, part American Eskimo part Poodle. He weighs about 25 lbs. and has an IQ of zilch, not easily trainable. He spent most of the first part of his life as a lone dog in the house, pretty much doing what he wanted. He has lived with my two Yorkies for the last 10 months. He now wants to play with them. The problem is that he pounces on top of them, not understanding that he is much bigger than they are and can hurt them. My husband finally found work so the three dogs will be home alone a lot more. We have left them alone together for full days on several occasions without issue. My husband says they sleep most of the day. How do we train Falcon not to jump on my Yorkies? How have other Yorkie owners dealt with the issue of having a larger dog in the house?

I have refused sales to people with young large dogs because of this. Too many yorkies have been crippled or killed in this scenario. | |

| I agree, I would not risk leaving them together all day with no supervision. As they get older, they will not play so rough, but at this point I would separate them. For me it just would not be worth the heartbreak of coming home to a severely injured dog. |

When we travel all dogs are crated. The only time all our dogs play together is when we are swimming with them. And even then only two dogs out at a time together. We do walk the dogs together on lead, but off lead only the two large dogs go off lead together, and our Yorkie will be off lead when the two large dogs are on lead.

| It really isn't worth the risk of injury or death to any smaller dog. I would separate them in individual rooms or crate them.
