Well, summer seems to not want to come and visit up north this year. Personally, I love the cooler weather but the plants and flowers aren't too happy. I was sitting outside today with my laptop just enjoying the sunshine and breeze. There was an obnoxious squirrel yelling at the dogs and I though - it got rather annoying. My oldest boy turns 24 tomorrow. Wow! I was 24 when I got married. Talk about a weird feeling. He is planning on getting married next April so he will be 24 at his wedding, too. :) I sent some homemade cookies to my son in FL this week. He was so happy to get them. He called me as he was snarfing them down. I sure do miss that guy. |
Thank you Omega-I am very bitter about the whole situation. I am going to change careers. At 56 it is going to be a challenge. |
Wow, it's been a long while since talking to you all. I really love the concept of the clinic I am working for now...it caters to the uninsured, those of us that are less fortunate...they depend largely on grants to be able to offer medical, dental and even mental health care to people that need it the most. I work the front office, reception/scheduling/registration and answering the never ending phone calls. It is a very active, busy little clinic...people literally drive for hours to get the kind of help we have to offer. We are located in a very small, rural community and with rising unemployment, the need just seems to have exploded...so many people that have always had insurance from their employers, find themselves without. These people are truly amazing, they work very hard, they really do care. That, in itself is what makes me love being even a very small part of something so wonderful and very much in demand. If I am able to learn all I can, so I can finally feel needed again...this job is just what the doctor ordered!!! Medicine should not be all about the almighty buck...medicine should be about caring and healing. It just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to know that there are still people out there willing to give their all for those who can't help the predicament they happen to be in...I've been there, I know what it's like to be without. Now I can help others, the way I wished others could have helped me. Sorry this is such a long post. I do hope everyone else is doing well...finally I am at peace with the medical field and I just feel so darn proud of it. |
Congratulations, Kathy. So glad that you found a new vocation, able to go home at night and feel accomplishment. Warmly, Deborah |

Carol - you graced us with your presence! Judy, you're having an early vacation. Nice. I'm just sitting here on a Sunday afternoon getting ready to go sit on my patio, listen to my fountain, enjoy a glass of wine, and read a good book. |

Hey, guess what! I have hummingbirds visiting my flowers and feeder. I saw one about two weeks ago buzzing the petunias so I got my feeder out and made some syrup for it. I've been waiting ever since for them to come back and finally, they came on Sunday. I LOVE hummingbirds. I've missed them so much since I sold my house and didn't have a flower garden with lovely tall bushes for them. Sigh! It looks just like this one. Attachment 281119 |
I love hummingbirds too! I just love it when they come to my kitchen window. :D |
Hummingbirds are fascinating little creatures...I haven't seen one in quite awhile...they just amaze me. |
Aww, my grandpa looooved hummingbirds! he worked in the garden all the time and when a hummingbird came by he would call to me to see it! Oh, RIP Grandpa *Yeh Yeh* Miss you... |
1 Attachment(s) Hello little big thread. Gosh, I'll bet you got very lonely didn't you? I kept watching for someone to post on you but no one did. Maybe it's time to let you go.... Here's my parting gift. Thanks for all you did for us thread. Bye - Susie and Tink. |
Nice try Susie and Tink...but...it ain't gonna work! :tongue3: |
I agree, this thread can never go...even though many of the regulars are no longer posting. Susie, Tink looks great...and Winston says "hur ez bootifull"!!! What's new with everybody, anything? I still have to say I'm loving my new job...it's one crazy little clinic, but I feel very comfortable, at ease there...even though it's jumping from the minute we open until the doors are closed each evening. |

Life is crazy. I'm pretty sure my dogs are keeping me sane right now. I just took a short trip out to VA. I was in the city where the meet up is going to be... very nice place for a meet up!! It was my first time in DC, too. Just feeling all the history there is pretty amazing and I love looking at all the architecture. Whoever of you are going to the meet up are going to have a great time. |
