| So, what is the outcome....is there an outcome (happy ending) yet? I know that there are rules, but this is just horrible.

| I don't think we'll know the final "outcome" or the final "impact" for a while. But I hope that all the publicity will keep it in the spotlight until then! I hope that if the "rescue" group does change their name after the negative publicity as someone has suggested, that we'll be able to track it down. I don't believe in hounding people forever just for the sake of hounding them, but they should just own up to the situation and agree to take another look at how they handled it; not just sneak away and start over.......

| Keep in mind that Ellen, a devoted dog lover, probably dealt with alot of grief over giving the dog over to her hairdresser's family in the first place. It's my understanding that she tried everything to acclimate the dog with her cats and the dog was just too rambuncious and energetic and they weren't getting along as a result. So, with high hopes, she took this dog in and what great disappointment it must have been for her to know that she had to give the dog up because, afterall, her cats were there first. And now this, on top of it all. Too sad.

| I didn't know the story so I didn't comment, but I just saw it on the news! UGH!! That woman from the rescue had the NERVE to come out and say shes being painted as the villian! She is absolutely RIDICULOUS! The house and family looked like GREAT candidates for the dog! They had a dog already too! I think this woman was looking for her 15 mins of fame by doing this! She was taking her 'anger' from Ellen out on that poor family with that poor child! She called the police because of threatening phone calls (which is unnecessary really) but what did she expect by doing what she did?? This is where I have problems with rescues! There was NO reason that woman could not go to the house and interview the family and use the same guidelines as she would for any other family! Anyways, rescues are WWAAYYY too strict IMHO! I totally understand they want to find forever homes, but they reject sooooo many people for assinine reasons! I got denied at one time because I worked FULL time!!! COME ON NOW!!! Anyways, Im pretty upset by all this for the family and for Ellen who gave a dog she could not keep to a good deserving family! That woman should be REMOVED from that rescue! Too bad she owns it! (at least thats what I think she said on tv tonight) OH and they also said that she already adopted the dog out to another family!! B**CH!!!

| I went to this site, and I guess she must have had some nastygrams as it is now temporily down... This is when she will make a new site for herself. She will not have the nerve to have that same site up and running again, too many people are too upset over what she has done to not only the dog but those children.. pooh's mum |

It was Ellen and Portia who did the wrong thing, not the rescue lady. They are the ones who caused the heartbreak by not following the agreement. Almost all rescues and even breeders have this clause in their contract. It is so they can be sure the animals will find a good home and not end up in the shelters to be put down. This is a good rule and it's there for a reason, the rescue has a right to look out for the dog. Portia and Ellen should of made sure that what they did by giving the dog away was OK with the agency first, before putting the dog and the family though all of this. Sure maybe the family might be a good home, but Ellen and Portia should of let the agency decide first, not make them out to be the bad guy after they were the ones in the wrong. Should the agency of handled it better? Maybe, but they should not of been in this position in the first place, The legal agreement should of been kept. Also by her publicity, Ellen is hurting rescues out there by all of this, so many people out there now will not be going to rescues for their next pet or want to go through the hassle after seeing this. These people will turn to BYBs and pet stores. Sad. | |

| I agree that the agency was within their rights to claim the dog if there was in fact an application, but I think they could have used MUCH more tact than what they did. |

| I think that Ellen is trying to make all rescues look bad. I understand that the family is upset but the issue is also that the family didn't event want to fill out an adoption application because they said it was to long. If they really wanted the Iggy they should have understood that they obtained the dog illegally and should have worked with the rescue group by filling out all necessary paper work. It is said yes we all know it but there guidelines that need to followed to insure that safety of the dog. I am part of a rescue as well and we have the same rules on our contracts. The rule is place to protect the dogs that we adopt out. We place them in FOREVER homes not homes to give out to another home. If for what ever reason you are not able to take care of the dog you are to let us know and we will deal with the rehoming. There has been so many times that this has happened before that people took it upon themselves to rehome a dog that they adopted to a family who has no clue how to care for a dog and the next thing we know is that we are getting a call from a shelter or vet that the dog is being euthanized. IF this had happened to a regular person and not a celebrity I'm pretty sure everyone would be on the side of rescue. We take in these dogs that have been starved and thrown out like garbage and we take care of them and treat them with love and care. |

| The more I think about this , the madder I get. What Ellen has done by getting the media involved, did not help the family get the dog back, it has ruined the woman, her rescue, hurt all rescues in general (due to the many, many people who now say they will never save a rescue dog now because of this), ruined the woman's business. Because of Ellen this woman does not feel safe in her home and is receiving death threats. If Ellen would of went to the agency before giving the dog to the family all of this would of turned out differently, the family would of had a better chance of getting the dog, the heartbreak and all of this would of been prevented. I'm sorry but after what Ellen did by getting the media involved causing all this to happen when it could of been dealt with privately, I do not blame the rescue lady for not giving the family the dog after it all ruined her life and hurt the rescue when all she did was follow thru the rescue's policies. I am not one for suing but I would be getting myself a very good lawyer to sue for whatever damages, compensation or for what ever I could. I'm sure poor Ellen slept well in her mansion.
