I started the 6 Day Body Makeover on Tuesday, and already lost 4.5 lbs. WOW. I know it's likely all water weight, but my body was definitely telling me I needed to make a change. My day goes something like this:

Breakfast - 3 egg whites, 1/2 grapefruit
3 hours later- 1 cup greens, 2 oz chicken, fish, or turkey
Lunch- 1/2 cup brown rice, 1/3 cup veggies, 3 oz chicken, fish, or turkey
3 hours later- 1 cup greens, 2 oz protein
Dinner- 1/2 cup brown rice, 3 oz lean protein, 1/2 cup veggies
3 hours later- Optional 1/2 cup berries or grapefruit

This is for 6-10 days then you can add in extra carbs, ect. It is sooo hard, I have to say. No salt, no oil, nothing.. it's rough. I think I am modifying it a bit, so that I'm eating plain oatmeal in the morning, and possibly an apple with peanut butter (all natural), for a snack. But, I am super happy with the results so far and I haven't even gotten to work out yet!

I was in the ER all day monday with a ruptured ovarian cyst. Not fun at all. But I'm feeling better today and can't wait to go on a long walk :)

Is this a book or is there any print material on this diet? I have never heard of it before. Do you weigh your meat/fish on a food scale to make sure you are eating the 3 ounces? Sounds like something I could do.....
Sorry to hear about your ER visit, hope you get better soon!

I used to eat according to the South Beach Diet and loast 30+ lbs last year, never gained any of the weight back, except for when I went on my honeymoon!

It stinks when you reach a plateau but hang in there because it will
start to drop again. I am hoping to get my cholesterol down now
that I am finally serious about it. The drugs scare me to death.
I really don't eat much but I guess what I am eating just is not
the right thing. Keep up the good work because your worth it:)

I just read in a magazine, after my walk, that Barilla put out a multigrain
pasta and it's angelhair. That's sound's like it might be just the thing
to mix with regular pasta for those of us who can't eat the whole wheat
pasta.

Let's pick a day for weigh in.

The choles thing can also be from your genes-----it runs in some families and you have a much harder time lowering it if that's the case.

I am right there with you on the drugs--- we have pharmacueticals shoved down our throats at every turn.

Our bodies really can take care of themselves if we give it the right supplies.

WHOLE foods are so important. You should have very little in your pantry that comes in a box, can or with more than 2-3 ingredients.

Salt, fats and sugars are addictive---- when you cut back you will start to actually taste your food again and be surprised how your palate changes. For the better.

I say cut back because you do need some salt, sugars and fats------make them good ones that count.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Organic sugars
Stevia is a natural no calorie sweetner made from the leaves of the stevia tree---Sweet Leaf
Grey sea salt that is full of natural minerals and is actually less salty tasting.

The Hubster and I do not have health insurance and I invest in my food choices------I have not been to the dr in years for anything other than my yearly stuff.

I eat really great food---just waaayyyy too much of it.

OK - I'm in - I lost 35 pounds already since January. That was my New Year's Resolution that this would be the year for "ME". I have that last stubborn 7 pounds to go and I pretty much follow what AngelWorks has done. I am seeing a nutrionist and I do 6 small meals a day - protein, fiber, low-fat and water. (started out at 1400 calories now down to 1300 to lose the weight).

Fiber is key - at least 35g of fiber a day and protein - those two make you feel fuller longer.

Soy shakes in the evening - to help curb those munchy TV nights.

Exercise - I work out 3-4 times a week (yes - tough - I work - but I have to - this is the only way to lose weight besides watching those calories go in your mouth). I do cardio (rebound class), Pilates, Mat Pilates and Yoga. I also have stuff at home for those times come winter I can't make it to the gym - I invested in a Total Gym and a home rebounder and weights.

It's a lifestyle change but I was never heavy - always thin - until I hit my 40s and then it all changed..lol.

Keep healthy snacks in your car, purse, work - fiber/protein bars are great - Southbeach is great (especially their bars and pizza).

Get yourself a George Foreman grill if you don't have one and start grilling chicken - if you have Market Day (schools/churches) in your area - start to get their Tilapia (fish) that you can bake in your oven...yum..all fast and easy..also those steamed veggies by Birds Eye that you nuke in the microwave works fast...Trader Joes has loads of their turkey items that are just yummy....Whole Foods if you are lucky to have one of those in your area is another great place to shop healthy.

Cut out some sugar not all - just watch. Portion control - very important.

OK - that's it for now - I could go on and on...I just hit a plateau this past month and I can't get to that last 7 pounds gone by Xmas...my trainer at the Y told me to try a spinning class to jump start me again...I'll try that and see what happens.

Let's all get healthy - oh - and my cholesterol went down 60 points even with an egg a day!! (eggs are best protein - hardboiled and easy to take to work). trigylcerides went down to normal again - all is good now in that area.

This is a great idea - our own support system!! :D

W0oOT! You done such a great job already------the last 7 pounds don't stand a chance!!

Ok I am in!!

I have been loosing weight for a few months. I have already lost 15 and I want to loose 25 more. I am tiny 4 feet 11 inches so even if I am 10 pounds more then my health weight it looks like more!

I have started to eat more veggies and fruit and fiber less red meat. Also I started to drink water. I only drink soy milk and get the lite kind at that. I walk every day sometimes up to 2.5 miles other day's 1.5. I do exercise in my home too.

Thanks for starting this thread, it could motivate us all unto a healthy path! thanks, Brandy.

There is a book on it and he also has a 6 *week* program that is around 100 bucks, so I opted for the 15 book, lol.

We just use a scale to measure out the meat and fish and it works fine! It's a bit of cooking and preparation, but if you don't mind that.. it isn't too bad at all.

The lack of salt is VERY hard for me, but I definitely am getting familiar with the other spices in the house, lol!

The author is Micheal Thurmond.. if you go to google and look that up there are tons of good and bad reviews on the diet :)

OK everyone - we can do it - by reading everything - we are all on the right track - and everyone has great pointers and tips that could help us all. It's at night like from now (8pm until 11pm) that is a killer for me. But I have my 100-200 snack and then lots of water...I've been stuck on these stupid 7 pounds so at least I'm not gaining anything back. I can't go to spinning class for another week or so since hubby is going out of town all next week and I'm on Izzy and kitty cat patrol and exercising 3 nights already next week is all I want to be away from them. ;) This is a great thread - let's keep each other motivated. It's going to really get tough when the holidays start coming in a couple of months - that will be a killer with all the parties, wine, martinis....yikes.

Superstarkba 09-19-2007 04:51 PM

The Holidays, don't even mention... Uhh Oh! I went to the grocery store tonight, and bought whole wheat bread, I am on a good start. I also got yogurt for a mid day snack:)

adorame 09-19-2007 05:17 PM

Baby carrots and fat free dip (if you want it) are good snack to munch on.Veggies are good for you! Also crystal light has these little packs that you can add to your bottle water, I have tried the peach and it was tasty, I only do one a day as a treat. I am having a hard time giving up my coffee tho, I do use 8 continent light instead of milk and I do not add sugar so I shouldn't feel too guilty with drinking it.;)

Belly Dancing! I have a video that I do 3-4 times a week and it works parts of your hips you never realized you had :) And it's fun too! I've been doing the same video for a few years and just love it, I never seem to get bored with it.

You are all doing GREAT!!! I've been doing Weight Watchers since my mom is a lifetime member she provided me with all the info and I have found it to be really easy for me. I also walk 2-3 miles with Simon everyday :)

Superstarkba 09-19-2007 05:44 PM

I will weight myself in the morning (when I weight less)

Hey girlies,

I am going to weight myself in the morning. Are we posting lbs lost or our real weight?

I was always really "too thin" before I had my two children. Now I am making brownies, cookies, all that halloween candy...Ahhhhh!!! Birthday parties... the list never ends. I really need to keep motivated to exercise. I have read that if you continue to exercise for a month it becomes a habit. Do you want to hear the saddest part for me? I am so embarrassed to even type this on any board. One of my degrees is in Physical Education.

I used to exercise all the time. I was very much into Socrates... well rounded person mind, body, spirit. I swear I could have stayed in college forever. I really love learning, discussing, sometimes arguing. It make our minds work harder... wow, sorry for such an aside.

I am going to lose weight this year and keep it off. I promise to all of you that I will exercise, and help motivate you on the days you need help.

Today I really kicked butt on cleaning the house. My house is so clean. I love it when my house is clean and organized. I fell like I can relax when things are clean.

Lets keep strong, and soon we will all be lean and long:thumbs up
