Count me in! Hi, Ahhhh! I really do have to start getting things done after this last post. I think I could stand to lose a good 30lbs. I don't want to be at 112 again, but I do want to be healthy. I have been exercising lately, and told myself that this year is going to be the year that I really lose weight. I am not going to make excuses for myself, but really report in, and tell how my exercising and overall life altering weight loss is going. I have already read a couple of post that were encouraging. I do agree about the sugar...much better to have natural things than artificial. I am going to do this with you girls!!! We can do it together!!! Furbaby moms unite! |
Welcome Contessa! Looks like you and I are in the same boat---I want to lose 30 as well. I never want to be without curves again----I was 12 once and no need to go back there------but I'd love to be a comfy, curvy size 8 again. Here is a link to the Dr Oz thingy----it was 11 lbs of fruits and vegs. After 12 days they had lost 10 pounds, and lowered bothe there blood pressure and choles by 10 %. http://www2.oprah.com/health/oz/oz_2..._350_108.jhtml |
Thanks for the late night snack suggestions. I'll give them a try. Maybe I just need to go to bed earlier. LOL |
Oh I am so in...I got married in May and was doing so well losing weight, going to the gym and just being active...well needless to say my Hubby and I went on our 2 week honeymoon and I completely fell off the bandwagon, that was 4 months ago. When I got married I was 140 (wanted to be 125-130) but that did not happen. Gained 10 lbs on my honeymoon, so I went up to 150 and I am still carrying around that extra baggage. So total, I would like to lose 20-25 lbs. I am looking for support and motivation to get to my goal. What worked for me is eating 6 times a day. I know when I was losing weight, I was taking in around 1200 calories ( I know, that is absoutely nothing) but I would like to try that route again. I eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. Water is key as well is exercise. I am going to try to stay away from sugars too! I never thought to use raw sugar..that is the brown stuff, correct? It is hard, because it seems like sugar is in everything we eat. Another thing I was doing was adding Metamucil to my diet and I was losing a good amount due to the extra fiber. Plus it just made me feel better. I am going to start taking that again too. I need to get into the gym and starting working my butt off. What does everyone feel the best breakfast food is for losing weight....is it eggs and maybe some fruit? I eat Multigrain cheerios a lot and feel that I could be eating something better for losing weight. Thanks for starting this thread...I actually started a Food Diary yesterday, which helps me track what I am putting in my mouth. It is scary to see what you have ate all day when it is written down on paper....uugh! Christina |

Good idea:thumbup: See how we get idea's from each other. We're going to be in shape before we know it. Let's make a day for weigh in's. Get on the scale only once a week and post new weight on YT. What do you think? Much like weight watchers only Yorkie Talk watcher's. |

I'm okay with the weigh in thing to see how much we are losing a week. Can we just post wieght lost rather than what we wiegh though? I have to say though-------I really hate the scale. :( I am going to work so hard that it will become my new best friend!:p |

I'm with you. Rarely do I get on the scale. I guess I just don't want to know the damage. If one feels uncomfortable posting from what they went from to where they are just post the amount lost. No one wants to make someone feel uncomfortable, we want to help each other. Anyone see the Biggest Loser last night? If they can do it we can too. |
    great idea!! I'm all for it. I will go weigh myself in a few minutes and get started keeping track :) Quote:

OK - I'm in - I lost 35 pounds already since January. That was my New Year's Resolution that this would be the year for "ME". I have that last stubborn 7 pounds to go and I pretty much follow what AngelWorks has done. I am seeing a nutrionist and I do 6 small meals a day - protein, fiber, low-fat and water. (started out at 1400 calories now down to 1300 to lose the weight). Fiber is key - at least 35g of fiber a day and protein - those two make you feel fuller longer. Soy shakes in the evening - to help curb those munchy TV nights. Exercise - I work out 3-4 times a week (yes - tough - I work - but I have to - this is the only way to lose weight besides watching those calories go in your mouth). I do cardio (rebound class), Pilates, Mat Pilates and Yoga. I also have stuff at home for those times come winter I can't make it to the gym - I invested in a Total Gym and a home rebounder and weights. It's a lifestyle change but I was never heavy - always thin - until I hit my 40s and then it all changed..lol. Keep healthy snacks in your car, purse, work - fiber/protein bars are great - Southbeach is great (especially their bars and pizza). Get yourself a George Foreman grill if you don't have one and start grilling chicken - if you have Market Day (schools/churches) in your area - start to get their Tilapia (fish) that you can bake in your oven...yum..all fast and easy..also those steamed veggies by Birds Eye that you nuke in the microwave works fast...Trader Joes has loads of their turkey items that are just yummy....Whole Foods if you are lucky to have one of those in your area is another great place to shop healthy. Cut out some sugar not all - just watch. Portion control - very important. OK - that's it for now - I could go on and on...I just hit a plateau this past month and I can't get to that last 7 pounds gone by Xmas...my trainer at the Y told me to try a spinning class to jump start me again...I'll try that and see what happens. Let's all get healthy - oh - and my cholesterol went down 60 points even with an egg a day!! (eggs are best protein - hardboiled and easy to take to work). trigylcerides went down to normal again - all is good now in that area. This is a great idea - our own support system!! :D |

I invested in a eliptical machine recently because I am not a go to the gym person at all----------I don't like feeling the competition thing from strangers. My own little personal prob. I also have a smal library of yoga and pilates DVDs. Yoga makes you fell like you've lost weight immediatly. Your posture gets better and you look like you've lost 10 lbs. Exercise can also be sneaked in at first---------start parking farther away from the shops, taking the stairs, take a stroll after dinner with your pup, kids or spouse. It all adds up at the end of the day! The new changes are hard, but if you make yourself try each new change for 30 days to see how you feel-------it takes 30 days for something to become a habit! A habit is harder to break.;) Surround yourself with only your most supportive family and friends and watch closely for the one's who try to sabitage your quest. Don't let them get to you! |

Way to go girl. Be proud of yourself you cetainly have worked hard. It stinks when you reach a plateau but hang in there because it will start to drop again. I am hoping to get my cholesterol down now that I am finally serious about it. The drugs scare me to death. I really don't eat much but I guess what I am eating just is not the right thing. Keep up the good work because your worth it:) I just read in a magazine, after my walk, that Barilla put out a multigrain pasta and it's angelhair. That's sound's like it might be just the thing to mix with regular pasta for those of us who can't eat the whole wheat pasta. Let's pick a day for weigh in. |
