The lake is wonderful and we do enjoy sitting on the dock...and yes, I confess...I do sometimes just sit in the boat while it's tied up!

We've had several family get togethers since we moved here. Our kids and grandkids enjoy fishing, swimming, tubing and cruising in the boat...we cook out, walk down the street to the park to feed the ducks and catch fireflies after dark. Yes, we have all the 'technilogical toys' in the house that they could be playing with but when they come here they don't want to watch t.v. or play on the computer...they actually slow down, relax and just enjoy the lake and each others company. Most kids don't get that opportunity and it is sad...there's something to be said for feeling a fish nibble at your toes or to take a nap in the hammock with a gentle breeze rocking you to sleep and to be able to sit outside after dark and listen to nature.

My2 boyz, that sonds so wonderful!!...I can see why the kids love it, heck I would too...


I just wish my porch looked like the pic's in the magazines...not one web in sight, no dust, they even have rugs and coffee tables on them.....

It always makes me chuckle when I see a porch with a couch on it, now they want to be comfy when they sit out!

My boys are too old now (16, 19 & 23) but they loved catching them when they were growing up. I would think that is something that kids will always do!

I grew up in the country too! I sat on the porch and watched storms with my father. My sister and I were discussing this the other day. There were fields, woods and a creek behind our house and I would take off and be gone all day, only come back for lunch and supper. Just wandering the woods, exploring. My sister commented how kids cannot even leave their yards now, and my mom never knew where I was when we grew up, but I was always safe and fine. I hate how times have changed. Now instead of catching lightening bugs, the kids are blowing them up on video games. It makes me sad.

OMG! ...We did that too!!...We would be gone ALL day, if there was a creek we where in it!...Our mom would never have been able to find us if she had to.

I think about that now and I wonder if it was just as dangerous back then with abductions as it seems now and where we just lucky it didn't happen to us....ignorance sure was bliss...that innocence is gone forever, what a shame...
