| Oh, and now I have some questions... He has a house, and I'm moving into that. He said he doesn't want me to pay rent!! I am obviously not going to abide by that, since I am gainfully employed. I have a feeling we are going to fight over it. Have any of you been in a similar situation? Should I stick to the fact that I'm splitting the bills 50/50? He said he doesn't think its fair for me to pay a lot since he doesn't want me to pay for his house. Am I setting myself up for never getting married now?

You are hilarious!! All those things went through my head!! LOL! I know that he would not throw it in my face, and I am totally the alpha dog in the relationship (I can use that metaphor - afterall, this IS a dog forum!! ) I think he feels weird making me pay since he makes 2 times what I make - and I'm not making peanuts. When I started talking money he just started talking about how I would have to pay for all the fancy food that I like and I said 'well duhhh' - I mean, of course I would buy groceries! I just don't want it to turn into a free loading sugar daddy situation. That's not what I'm looking for...

| Even though my family was against it I moved in with my bf (now hubby) before we got married. I think it was the smartest decision. We basically moved in together for convinence. We practically lived together anyways, but on the nights he would just visit it would be hard on him getting up for class the next morning. Plus I would go over to his apartment and be bored stiff because all my stuff wasn't there and he would have to do homework. When we lived together we eliminated the commute. That was really nice! You get to also see if you could ever marry him. It's much easier to move out than it is to go through a divorce. It's always nice seeing if there is something they do that annoys the crap out of you. I'm glad hubby didn't do anything. I just had to get over his morning breath. LOL I sure hope it all works out for the best!!!

| If I was you I would tell him you're either paying for somethings or you're giving him x amount of money per month for him to apply to whatever.

| I'm living with my boyfriend right now and it is so much fun. We pretty much split everything 50/50. But it isn't every bill we split 50/50. Sometimes I'll buy groceries and he'll pay the electric bill or the other way around. Some months I'll pay more and some months he will. It pretty much works out even. But I think the important thing is that both people feel like they are contributing and neither feels like he/she is paying for more than his/her share. It works out great. |

Hmmmm.....1st congrats! LOL! 2nd....pay a bill or 2! I did when I moved in with Ray! I payed the cable and the phone bills! And I always made sure there were lots and lots of groceries in the house! Don;t make a house payment for him, unless your name is on the mortgage! You are safe that way! HIS HOUSE...HIS MORTGAGE! When you get married, then it can change! Protect yourself. I have done this, as have most of my friends! It works well! That way, you are contibuting with a few bills, but just don;t make a house payment!!!!!!!!! Since he has probable been living alone for quite some time, I am sure he will apprecaite the fact there is always groceries in the house! (And toilet paper!)Just make it clear, that you will not be cooking all the time though! LOL! And put some of your womanly touches on the place! Some fresh flowers, and some cute new pillows, some new pictures....I am sure he will love it! Ray did! Good Luck!
