can I ask you a question? Why do you HAVE to follow orders if that is CLEARLY the case that it was a total data entry mistake? (not you specifically) I mean why do they not give the workers the power to change something like that with proper identification? I mean paula had her daughter THERE... couldn't her daughter have showed an ID or something that would PROVE that AVERY was a girl??? I just wonder why the insurance company/pharmacy makes it soooo difficult for EVERYONE involved. I feel bad for pharmacy workers bc they have to deal with irate customers.... and I feel bad for customers who always have to deal with data entry issues. I know mistakes happen, but there should be a way to fix it ON THE SPOT! I mean its common sense that if the order came from an OB GYN then its for a GIRL! NO ob gyn would give a BOY BIRTH CONTROL!! LOL

| YT 2000 Club Member | I know 3 boy Avery's and they are 30 or older. I know 4 girl Avery's and they are 15 and under. I like the name for a girl or boy. I think that it is ridiculous that they are giving you the run around getting your daughter's medication! You would think that your insurance company would have the information on file! I just got done dealing with mine not wanting to cover my youngest son hear they updated their files and typed in that he was born in 1977 instead of 1997! I have a boy who is almost 13 and his name is Kennedy. When I named him Kennedy was in the BOY name part of the baby name book, it meant "Helmeted Head" Now the name is used for girls too. I have people ask why I named my son a girls name and I tell them that in 1994 it was a boy's name in baby book and was not even listed in the Girl section at all. I also remind them that Ashley and Tracy and Taylor were started off as a boy's name way back when but then turned into girls name! |

| She's a real beauty! I can't help with the gender problem, just wanted to tell you she's a doll. I don't see why they would insist that Avery is a boy name since it could be either. That part I don't understand at all.

| I'd would hope they can see she's all girl. My daughter has trouble too. Her name is Kylie, and she's always mistaken for a Kyle. How stupid can you be?

| Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | yes, Avery, it was mainly used in the later days by men....now Kennedy...makes me think of JFK and he is very manly!!! I love that name! And yes Ashley IS a male name....from origination anyway. I know a girl named Michael I think it is very clever and cute but I suppose her parents will also face some gender issues!!

| Paula, Avery is a beautiful young lady, and I personally love her name. The question I have is: Is this the same insurance company that covered her with the ruptured ovarian cyst? If so...duh!!! I think I would simply send/fax them a copy of her birth certificate...and that would prove which gender she is. And why in the world would they, the insurance company question the doctors prescription? Double duh...duh!!! There is no doctor that would prescribe birth control to a male...period, the end. Oh by the way did you know I married a woman? LOL...named "Jamie"!!! I hear it all the time...and it is hard, frustrating...when I'm asked if my husband is a female???

After laughing hysterically I calmly said...okay see the name on there PAULA, and it says MOTHER of insured child?? with the #'s ***-***-**** THATS ME and again I do not want info from you please look at what you already have and correct this SHE IS A GIRL, the medicine was prescribed by a DOCTOR they say ohhh okay we'll look into that...guess what I just called the pharmacy for her refill, and asked them to put it thru while on the phone as I dont waste a trip there to be told my daughter is a male and wait a day for computers to update info like i had to do last time...SO they put it thru and they said this prescription cannot be prescribed to a male.....for female use only....Really.... So again Im about to get in a huge fight with insurance company

but with this situation, i guess it's has to do with the insurance policy. it's obvious that if you bring in your daughter who's mistaken for a boy, that she is a girl. but the pharmacy tech or even the pharmacist doesn't work for the insurance company. i think it would violate some kind of policy or rule with that particular insurance company. sometimes, customers don't realize that the people in the pharmacy have no control over insurance companies and that they're pretty much in the same boat as the customer. their job is to accept prescriptions, fill them, and give them out to the customer. insurance companies are pretty uptight with thier policies and they too follow certain "rules". i'm assuming this whole situation was miscommunication on the insurance's side. we, the pharmacy, are completely helpless if they make the mistake in THEIR paperwork. we assume that it's correct on their part. the pharmacy could have given you the birth control if you wanted it, but your insurance would probably not pay for it, and you'd pay cash price (but that's a whole another story and it would be up to the pharmacist on duty). if you come across someone that's helpful, he/she would probably fix the problem for you and you'll never have that problem again. again, it's the people you come across--someone could be really helpful, someone could care less. i just hope that the people i hire are the ones that do want to help you.
