My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Awww Man, Dry Socket????? So I think I have dry socket in my two lower sockets, from having my wisdom teeth out on Friday. I have all the symtoms. Increased pain, huge holes, hubby says he can see white in the holes (bone?) this is gross but, foul taste from the sockets, and they ache! I can contain the pain with Ibruprophin, and I've been googling all night and found that the treatment for it just eases the pain, but doesn't increase the speed of healing. I just don't have time to go to my dentist every 24 hours for a packing. Has anyone had this and just suffered thru it? |

| Yikes !!! I am sorry. I was fortunate enough not to have that problem when I had my wisdom teeth out but know that it happens more often than not. I will ask one of the ladies @ work tomorrow if they of something that might could help besides going to the DDS. I hope it gets better soon!

| Oh my...That sounds super painful!! When I had my wisdom teeth removed, they hadn't even started to come out yet, so they had to go in and get them...I was in soooo much pain, but I didn't have a dry socket...I can't imagine the kind of pain I would have been in if that would have happened to me. I wish I had some advice for you!!! Feel better soon!

| OMGosh! You poor girl! I have never had a dry socket, but I've heard how horribly painful they are! Did they give you info on how to prevent dry sockets, like not gargling or suckng with a straw? I will say a prayer for your speedy recovery. Best wishes and lots of hugs!

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | I had dry socket in all of my holes.....packing is the only way...if the infection goes to your heart it can be fatal. Not to scare you but you have to make time, thats why they give antibiotic to people with heart issues before teeth cleaning. I was given a lot of Vicodin and was VERY sick. The pain inceases if you dont get it taken care of...you have exposed nerves if it is dry socket. Have you drank pop? Thats what caused mine. I dint know u were not supposed to and drank pepsi like crazy....had dry socket within 3 days. I hoe you feel beter and please go to the dr......I dont want you to be in pain. Packing is almost instant relief!!

| I had dry sockets in all of mine as well. I didn't drink threw a straw or do anything that would cause it either. The dentist told me that it can just happen sometimes. I was in a lot of pain and the pain meds made me sick, but I still took them because I would feel somewhat better when I did. Go and see your dentist and have him make sure that it is in fact dry sockets. It will be painful for the next couple of days. I hope you feel better!!!

| It could be dry socket, but maybe not. I had the white in the holes. I called my oral surgeon's office and was told they are blood scabs. You should probably get checked just to be safe though. Sorry you are having such a bad time of it.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | well the pepsi probably did it....I dont wanna scare you, I am just being honest....I just hate to see you go thru the pain, or leave untreated. Infection takes awhile so i doubt u have that but seriously the packing helps immediately!!! Its a great relief. Sorry for scaring you, I promise i didnt mean too When I said fatal that means leaving untreated and getting infection....any infection can be fatal but ones of the mouth are serious stuff you just take care of yourself and go to the DR!! We do not want you in pain!!!

| Make sure you pack them good. And I changed my packing like every 3-4 hours. I took the pain meds when needed. I drank water only and ate like a piece of toast so that I wouldn't get too sick when I took the pain medication and within 3 days I was feeling much better. I would still check with your dentist though.
