Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | OMG - I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVE NAPA! If you can, by ANY means, eat at the French Laundry, DO. The chef, Tom Keller, is considered one of THE BEST chefs in the world, yes world. If you truly are a food aficionado, it'd be worth a small fortune.

| FL is fabulous, but you have to make reservations WAYYYYYYYYYYYY in advance especially during this time of year (tourist season). There are TONS of great restaurants all over the Napa Valley now though. I responded in the other thread, but are you planning on taking your dog with you? I know most of the hotels there, along with the restaurants. What are you thinking to pay for lodging and do you care where in the Valley it is ie: Napa, Yountville, St. Helena, Calistoga?

| I wish I could help. My best friend and I have wanted to take the train and enjoy some wine tasting in Napa but we've never made the trip. I hope you have a nice relaxing time. Enjoy the beautiful scenery if you decide to go there! Monterrey is fun just to eat at the great restaurants and hit the aquarium if you're into that. I've never been to carmel Last edited by chloeandj; 08-15-2007 at 07:30 AM. |

| Napa Valley is beautiful with all the rolling hills, vinyards with wine tasting. You may want to find a hotel somewhere outside of Napa, as it can really be pricey during tourist season. Monterey is an interesting town to explore. Go down to the last street by the ocean and you will find the Monterey Bay Aquarium and just a block south of that is the Forrest Gump resturant jetting over the ocean, and then all the great little shops. About 5 miles south of Monterey is Carmel. It's a beautiful town on the ocean and very dog friendly. You will see people walking their dogs all over town and the beach. They have a wonderful dog boutique called Diggidy Dog. http://www.diggidydogcarmel.com/index2.html We take in all the little towns and shops here and there when we go up to Morgan Hill and San Francisco to visit our sons, which we will be doing again on the 24th of this month for a few days. Have fun and enjoy the peaceful Napa Valley countryside. |

| Yes Bubba Gump. Not Forest. Must have been thinking of the movie. Any Pebble Beach is another very nice and trendy place with cute little shops. |

| Thank you everyone for your comments and help ... well pretty much i'm looking at a reasonably price place, doesn't really matter where in napa valley as we'll have a car and can drive to places. probably looking at $100/night (preferably lower if possible). I will be home in September, and would go to napa during the week (he'll have just finished taking the MCAT - so he just wants to get away too). Please keep the suggestions coming!!! <3 Camly PS: I have heard GREEEAT things about French Laundry. My parents actually just ate there last weekend ... lucky! i was so jealous! yea and i heard you have to have reservations at least a month in advance.
