That's what my dermatologist told me over 25 years ago and I still use it! It's good stuff. Oh, and you can buy the Wal-Mart version of it for much cheaper and it works just as well. He also recommended Almay brand cosmetics and not standing under a hot shower. He said that water really dries the skin and exacerbates the condition. He said to take as short of showers as possible and try not to let the water get on the face.

| ![]() So far, nothing has seemed to help with my daughter. She has started drinking tons of water a day (she needed to anyway)...so I am hoping that will help too. We both have another dermatologist appt in a few weeks (both for acne - I am in my 30's, never had acne growing up and have had tons of it lately). Anyway, I will keep you posted as to what he tries next. I was also reading in a fitness magazine the other day (can't remember which one, I get three of them) and they were talking to a swimming team....they use plain vaseline on their faces before they swim because when some girls started and they were swimming under water all the time, their faces were breaking out. I just don't know about spreading vaseline all over my face...but I have notice that since my daughter has been swimming (she is a water bug and loves to swim under water) her face is WORSE than before! aurgh I have also bought some old fashion Lye soap because a friend told me it helped her back acne. I use it to wash my face and I have noticed a vast approvement. AND it isn't harsh...for some reason, I was thinking it was a harsh soap...anyway, I have very sensitive skin and this leaves my face feeling nice and clean and soft. Course, what works for one won't work for others....we can attest to that because we have tried EVERYTHING...OTC to Perscribed. **We haven't heard of the Persagel, but I am looking for it when we go to town next...can you find it at Wal-Mart or Targert???

| ![]() I tried it with no luck at all... I break out around my menstraul cycle too.. I found "Nature's Cure for females" and it is made specially to help around that time. There is a cream you put on your face and homeopathic pills that help correct the horomones around that time.. you buy it over the counter.

| ![]() I used ProActive for a while, but it actually made my skin worse. I was constantly breaking out. I went to a dermetologist and he said it's hit or miss with proactive... either your skin loves it and reacts well or just the oppposite there is really no in between. I started using Peter Thomas Roth skin care and it was wonderful so I stick with that! |

| ![]() My sister and I used proactive, and it improved my skin situation somewhat... But then we got a prescription from the doctor for Benza Clin (clindamycin-benzoyl peroxide gel) and it is amazing! I don't know what's in it, but it clears up breakouts over night, and even helps your complexion. Maybe try asking your daughter's doctor for a prescription acne treatment.

| ![]() My 17 year old had to have it too. She really likes it, and it seems to work well. We used clearasil, they use proactive. Different name, different time.

I got mine from a local person that still makes it. It is made at several of the arts/crafts fairs that we have coming up. Would you like a bar? It is pretty cheap (around $2.00). I really like it!

Donating YT 11K Club Member | ![]() I have had the worst acne thru out my pre teen and teen years!!! I have tried a whole bunch of diff. things! Proactiv never worked for me, it only made my face irritated and dry but my friend said it worked for her but if you stop using it you break out again so what the point of that? Right now i am using AHAVA face wash and it's soo great! It's gentle and is made with the dead sea so it's great for skin. I used to use Cetaphil which is prescribed by derm. cause it is gentle for the skin, and it is also good, i still use it sometimes but since i wear makeup it doesn't take it all off and ahava does. I have tried clindamycin, benzaclin, clearasel, etc and none took them away completely. What i finally had to do was go on accutane and that worked 100%. Now i get them occasionally when i eat junk but if i drink a lot of water and eat healthy they go away. ![]() ![]()

| ![]() I am a consultant with Beauti Control. What I have found with my teenager clients (not just teenagers too) is that they don't necessarily have an acne problem. It's more of a lack of skincare regimine problem. Proactiv is a very strong line. It can actually damage your skin. It will bleach out your clothing and pillowcases because it is so strong. Our skincare is based on your skin's age. Not your chronological age, the age your skin is acting. If you spend a lot of time in the sun, smoke, don't take care of it then you might test at a higher age. Some people test at a lower age. I started using this earlier this year (30) and my skin tested at 40 yrs. old. Because I have been using this, it is now testing at 30! For my clients that have acne, the first thing I put them on is our 20's line. Most of the time, that alone will clear them up. Then I can have them use another treatment just for the occasional breakout. If that doesn't work, then I put them on our actual acne line. If you would like a free sample, send me a pm with your info and I'll gladly send it out! (To anyone for that matter!) I also have a website that is http://www.beautipage.com/stephanielitherbury

| ![]() Proactiv worked miracles for my face. I had horrible break outs through my twenties and I finally ordered Proactiv and I couldn't believe how quickly it fixed the problem. I swear I only used it faithfully for maybe 2 weeks and then only when I broke out I would use the skin repair only and that is enough for me. Maybe it works differently for everyone. Give it a try it won't hurt. If it works you won't be disappointed. Good luck!!!
