| Should I open the vault? Do you have an item that is "special" or it's your "favorite" so you don't use it but just on those rare & special moments ...but those times that you do break the item out of it's vault is almost never, so that "favorite" item is almost never used or worn....I thought about this over the week end when I had to think about a pair of jeans that where my favorite pair, but I had to decide if the occasion was special enough to break them out....then I thought, "This is b.s. , I'm gonna wear them til they fall off, so I did...I've seen people do this w/ dishes perfume & a coat also....I say use them til there's no more use to them that's what there for....

| I got fine china dishes and crystal stemware and sterling silver flatware for my wedding and I haven't used a single one of those items. I've been married for 2 years now. I guess one day I'll use them. I also have a favorite pair of jeans that I only wear on special occassions because I don't want to "wear them out." I guess I could just go buy another pair if these got too worn out. |

| Isn't strange to do that....if you love something shouldn't you use it as much as you can ?....better to use it than have some relative or stranger use it when we're gone ....

| Candles are this way too. You know you get those pretty candles and you don't want to burn them I have heard it referred to as your a "burner" or a "duster", LOL. When I heard that, I immediately thought how dumb is that, a candle is made to be burned and enjoyed...so now I am defintely a "Burner". The older I get the more I learn that material things are just that and they should be used and enjoyed. You never know what tomorrow will bring!!

| I got some email thing a few years ago. I don't remember the exact words but it was about this husband who was going through his wife's things and pulled out clothing she'd been saving for a special occasion. This ended up being her funeral and that was the special occasion. The meaning behind the email was not to wait for a special occasion for anything. Wear your Sunday clothes out to play, bring out those fancy dishes for pizza. Most of those email things make me roll my eyes but this one stuck with me. I don't wait for special occasions anymore.

My mother has the Psalm 23 " The Lord is My Shepard " verse that is about 6 x 8 ft. hand crochet by my Grandmother put away in the attic....I think it's sad that it's hidden away because she doesn't want anything to happen to it....it's probably being made into mice nests as we speak....

| do not save candles, they can melt .... no, really, use all your good stuff and be happy you have them ... we must have grown up with the "Sunday go to meeting" mindset .... sleep in those silk jammies, you will like them. GOOD POST!!!

| Erma Bombeck wrote this after finding out she had cancer.please read! If I could live this life over, I would have talked less and listened more. I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded I would have eaten the popcorn in the "good" living room and worried much less about the dirt, when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace. I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth. I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day, because my hair had just been teased and sprayed. I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage. I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains. I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life. I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband. I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern, if I weren't there for a day. I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil or was guaranteed to last a lifetime. Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment... realizing that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist nature in a miracle. When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner." There would have been a lot more "I love you's" and more "I'm sorry's". ...but mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and "really" see it... live it...and never give it back. by Erma Bombeck |
