Donating YT 500 Club Member | Fireworks! I made it up town for a while to catch our local fireworks display. For the first time in my life, I shot pictures of one. (The new camera even has a fireworks setting.) I'm sure this is probably not new for a lot of you, but since I've only had the new digital for a little less than 2 months, I can't help but be in awe. I had no idea at the time, but when I got home to download them, I had shot 126 frames. And I wasn't even there for the entire display. Also, we had a few storms earlier this evening. While the rain stopped, the lightning stuck around. So, if you look in the bottom right hand corner of the first shot, you'll be able to see a bit of Mother Nature's handiwork as well. Thanks for indulging me. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Thanks! It's a Canon Powershot A630. I LOVE IT! I was SO resistant to going digital. And now that I have, I keep thinking, "You dork!" |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Thanks, Lori! I was SO excited once I started seeing them on the computer. I wasn't really anticipating getting much of anything, so that only made it all the more fun and exciting. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | AWESOME! I realized on the last Fireworks that I also had a firework setting-so I have 1 shot that is good..LOL! I will have to download it! I really think that your shots were great! Does it have the delay on actually taking the picture and when you push the button? Mine does that, but oyherwise I love it! I had the Fair Queens in the O'Fallon parade yesterday & boy was it hot!!! Kay

Digital cameras DO have a delay. That's just one of the trade-offs I guess of getting to see immediately what you did get. But, with this camera, I have only had one or two cases where the lag was significant enough to do that and I've shot I don't know how many frames thus far. So, it has been pretty minimal. I've even thought before that I did lose the image and when I reviewed it, why there was what I had in front of me! I just gush about this camera. It may not be for everyone, but I really do love it. Do some online searches and read the reviews. Amazon had a good price on it recently. But whatever you do, don't buy this camera -- or anything else -- from www.fotoconnection.com.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Oh, gee, Vicky -- sure! I'd be flattered. If you need it at a higher res, I can e you the original. |

Yes, the delay is pretty strong for fireworks but I know from experience that a film camera is all about successful shutter delay to get fireworks images. (I dated a pro photographer for a bazillion years. You should see some of his work. ) What was wild shooting these was that I couldn't use the screen to focus -- it stayed totally black. I had to use the viewfinder to frame and then it would focus, delay and then click. I didn't even see everything I was shooting as I was shooting it. It was weird, but very fun.
