Family /Friend (F&F) Dissapointments?

There's a quote about a friend doubling the joy and cutting the grief in half ... to me, that's what a real friend does.

Good friends -- especially using that criteria -- are hard to find. That's one of the reasons I guess I am still so astounded by YT. So many truly kind, caring, and just plain ole nice people in one place.

Tell your son congratulations! He has plenty to be proud of. It's a shame that more family can't share in his joy.

That is totally awesome on all counts. Jobs in Michigan (particularly automotive ones) are really scarce and seem to be declining even more. But, more power to those who can find them!!!!!!!

I, too am here for you whenever you need. That is what is so wonderful about this community. That there truly are friends here who care even though we may never meet face to face. I know lots of people just don't get that and probably never will, but thankfully we do!!!!

I had a "best" friend like that. When she got promoted (to a job much higher than mine), I was so happy for her, I congratulated her and took her out to lunch to celebrate.

Then when I got a 2-grade promotion (I was still much lower on the totem pole than she was), she did not say ONE WORD to me. No congratulations, nothing. I was really hurt but didn't make any big deal out of it.

Then when I met my husband and we eventually got married, she started giving me the cold shoulder big time. Our "friendship" fell apart soon after. I guess we weren't the friends I thought we were. She couldn't take ME having good news. I know it sounds dumb, but I still miss her.

You guys awe awesome to open up to a stranger & give your personal stories that can be so painful & have complete understanding of each others hurts....I almost cried when I logged on to read some of these...it's terrible when we almost have to apologize for something good happening in our lives....It's a little weird to feel you have friends but yet we have never met, it feels good ...Thanks guys...sometimes it's the similarities that help us form bonds

My dad graduated from HS and became a Journeyman. He designed and built the machines that the auto factories used to make the parts (crankshafts) for the cars (in the 60's & 70's) I was so proud of my daddy. I took a tour of a Ford factory once and saw my dad's machines with the name plate of his factory and his initials on it. He also loved trucks.
That's not just a new truck... ...it's a magnet!!!!

Your Father was clearly a very smart guy..I think sometimes the blue collar guys don't get the credit they deserve for the hard work they contribute to the work force...

But...... I don't think there is such a thing as a stranger on this board. Right off the bat you know that everyone feels the same way you do about your pup(s). And as far as your son goes...WAY to Go! You have a right to be happy. You raised him to be independent and you were successful! I thought I'd have to hold a gun to my youngest son's head to get him to get a job and then to keep it! LOL

That is great!!! How proud you must be of him and it shows a maturity not every young adult has whether they went to college or not. Your son will have a very sucessful life as he sounds like a very decent person and that is the most important thing. That is an awesome truck. I just don't understand why people can't be happy for others good news. YT is one place you can be assurred that people really care.
