| Difference Between Laminate and Pergo So, I've decided to pull up my STINKY bedroom rug that the princess decides she likes to pee on. My friend used to work at Home Depot and teach classes on how to do floors, so he's gonna do it for me!!!!! So, my question is (before I drag him to Home Depot )...Does anyone know (besides price) what the difference between laminate and Pergo is? I thought they were both plastic? Thanks!

| Pergo is a brand name of laminated flooring! Laminated flooring is wood but with a scratch laminated covering. I have it in my kitchen but it is another brand, not Pergo! It's the samething. It is laid down on a soft pad and the floor goes down in pieces interlocking with each other. It's beautiful and easy to care for. It comes in many colors, wood looking as well as marble and tile looking. You can't go wrong with it. |

| We had to pull up our carpet too. We put down Armstrong Wood Laminate. I took an end piece that they had cut off during installation and left submerged in water for about 12 hours, took it out and let it air dry. Absolutely no warping. We then put the piece in pure clorox for 24 hours and absolutely no discoloration! So there are many brands out there, but remember that you get what you pay for. So don't buy something because the price is cheap. Do some homework, check prices and then you can probably find what you want on sale. We did our whole house, so we got a cut because of the quantity also. I think we paid around $3.78 a sq ft. A little costly for a whole house, but I'm real happy with it. We ended up buying from a warehouse instead of Home Depot. And we got a better deal. We also paid to have it installed, as the 30 yr warranty was also covered. It would not have been covered if we had done it ourselves. So you might want to think about that too. Anyway... I really, really love it! You should too. Be sure to send pics if you do! |

| Yes, Pergo is just a brand name of a laminate floor (but you already figured that out). We put in Armstrong laminate floor in our new house almost 2 years ago and LOVE it. We bought from a wood floor distributor instead of a Home Depot or Lowe's so I'm really not sure how their prices compare. Good luck!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have laminate not Pergo brand in my kitchen, laundry room and hall and it was not a cheap brand but I had a big plant leak water and didn't realize it and it sat under the plant for a day and it warped the laminate. I still love it but I check every day to make sure no water is left standing.

When you wash it don't "WET" it just damp mop. The cracks are really tight together but if water sat on them for awhile eventually there might be a problem. Your really going to love this floor. | |

| I have Pergo in my entry way. Surfie did his business on it one day when my hubby was babysitting. It did warp, but went back down within 24hours or so. Don't know why, but I was very happy. I am going to Home Depot today as I am doing the same thing, they will lay it as well. Just remember Nik, when you buy the boxes and all the other stuff you need, open all the boxes, they need to air out for 24 hours. It makes it easier to lay. Noy only that, when my entry was done and I opened the boxes, there were a lot of ends that were damaged.
