Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Only in Alaska I swear this is not photoshopped. Some guy in town builds this huge snowman every year. It drives the neighbors crazy because it turns the narrow, city street into a tourist attraction. But a moose walked up next to it, and a good friend of mine took this picture. It just looks surreal to see a snowman towering over a moose. Oh, and yes, the snowman is melting. Looks like it's missing an eye, lol.

LUV my 3 Furrs & Alex Donating Member | Oh my God, that's just amazing. I love the photo. Are you the one who took it? I wish we would have some snow here as well, but not much luck, specially not for such a huge snowman.LOL

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | No, a good friend took it. It's in my neighborhood, though. We have had so much snow and cold this year that we're breaking records left and right. You can have it!

| I love that. In Maine (winter of 98) the town of Bethel built the world's biggest snowman. It had tractor tires for buttons and entire fir trees for arms. It took months to melt. If I can find a photo, I'll post it. My husband (then boyfriend) and I drove 2 hours just to see it. They used cranes, etc...it was crazy. Somehow, it seems more of a challenge to build one in your own yard like that crazy alaskan. I am trying to figure out how he did it. He just must have made a big pile of snow and carved it out. I can't imagine that he lifted the pieces into place. |

The first year he built it, the media went nuts. There was a Russian film crew doing a video of it. This is the second year, and now the neighbors are up in arms. They're tired of tourists clogging the street to see it. And bettyeanne, I do believe you're right about the arm! And that appears to be his hat on the ground. Poor snowman.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | You're good! Yes, a reporter at our paper coined the phrase "Snowzilla," and it's gotten widespread use!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | HAHA !! That moose finally met someone bigger than him - maybe he'll quit terrorizing poor Eddie now that the HUMONGOUS one-eyed-one-armed 'snowzilla' is on the loose....If I were that moose I'd find a hiding place REAL Quick ! That's such a cool picture... Mike - you are making Alaska look like so much fun with all your great pictures..I used to think of it as this frozen dark scary state that only diehard snow lovers could live in and you've totally changed my views....there really is alot going on there.... |

| That's really cute. Will have to show my hubby. He goes to Alaska on business a lot and is always running into some mighty big moose. Glad this one met his match. |
