| ![]() I realise that they're still in the dog family, but they're not dogs as we know em anymore than foxes or wolves are. It bugs me that the news sites keep calling it "Dog fur" because if that's all someone reads, they're gonna think "OMG...pomeranian? ![]() I'd wear fox...but not foxhound. Huge difference. I just don't like that it said it was fake when it wasn't. I like real fur, real leather, real suade...but loads of people are offended and they buy fake instead. Them buying fake and finding out it was real would be just as bad as me buying real and finding out it was fake. It's just as much a cheat, but with more hurt and disgust. Not even talking about allergies. I wouldn't be surprized if that was the way they actually found out it wasn't fake. To me, the whole thing (even though I joke about it being all Puff Daddy's fault xD) is just a byproduct of big companies using cheap overseas labor. If the coats had been made in the US, there's no way it would've happened. Greed.

| ![]() I guess I am a real radical. I am against the killing of animals unless it is for food or a matter of human safety and health. In other words, I'm not against killing cockroaches, etc. ![]() |

| ![]() Just wanted to add that the animals that leather comes from are also used for food - which is why I am not against leather. So their lives are not being ended solely for the purpose of us "looking good".

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() I agree this is way past fashion statements. It's saying it's ok to skin an animal ALIVE so WE can wear something soft. ![]() They have been caught in China using more than the Racoon Dog - they found pelts from Golden Retrievers and other domestic dogs being labeled as FAUX Fur. This isn't something that our country should EVER import. WE ARE THE LARGEST IMPORTER OF FUR Its sick and inhumane what they do to get ANY Fur. Here are a few links in case anyone wants to watch and cry ![]() ![]() These videos will make you want to throw up. so be careful if clicking the links - THEY ARE ALIVE WHEN THEY ARE SKINNED in some cases live more than TEN MINUTES after these FREAKING COLDBLOODED people skin them WARNING GRAPHIC !!!! http://www.furisdead.com/feat-dogcatfur.asp THIS ONE IS REALLY AWFUL. They show the skinning process ...anyone who sees just ONE of these videos will NEVER WEAR FUR AGAIN !!! http://justnicephotos.homestead.com/...lFurTrade.html |

When we're talking about FAUX FUR - yes - REAL DOGS AND REAL CATS are being slaughtered in China for this cruel export business. I get way over the top & apologise ![]() Back in the old days people needed to keep warm. That's totally different than the reasons we wear fur now. There are so many man made materials these days that fur should not be worn ....PERIOD. | |

| ![]() It's personal preference, some people like real fur, some don't. (And, frankly, I don't trust anything so-called animal rights groups put out. It's very convenient that they're able to get such quality footage. I dunno, maybe PETA's just soured me on the whole thing. It just makes me sick that when they see something that disturbs them -so- much, they don't have enough backbone to do anything except turn on their camera so they can put it out there for 13 year olds to see.)

| ![]() More like propaganda. Not education. Education is telling someone with little bias, what's going on. Propaganda is "Oh. My. God. Your mom's a murderer because she serves you meat. Lookit the dead rabbit.". No doubt some animals are skinned alive. I don't doubt it for a second...but Peta isn't doing anyone any favors. Not even helping the animals. If they really wanted to help, they'd concentrate on saving the animals they take in. There was a trial over it not long ago. People that worked for Peta were taking in animals (from shelters...animals that were relatively safe) and putting them down in the back of a van and then tossing the bodies in dumpsters. They only spend about 1% of their 40 some odd million dollar budget on caring for animals. And they're fairly open about their wish to -exterminate- certain breeds of dog. Pit bull terriers for one.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() You could be right. But this is about American stores selling REAL dog and cat fur so I guess I'll try to stay on subject - what amazes me is HOW can real dog and cat be mistaken for fake fur ??? Someone is allowing these companies to import clothes made from real fur and this should be SO against our laws and morals - not to mention our HEARTS. We can hardly stop what other countries do - but we sure don't have to support it by importing it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() Well... There is some -nice- faux fur out there and it's getting better. People probably just didn't think anything about it when they saw it in stores. But...if you mean when they were making it... the people that actually stitched the coats together don't earn enough to question anything. There isn't a lot of job security in a sweatshop and they already don't make much. Getting em imported though. I don't understand it either. They must only look at the finished product and not the materials (like picking one at random and taking it apart to inspect). That's why I say, if they'd been made in the US, it wouldn't have happened. Not just because of the workers though. Any idiot can tell the difference between fake and real fur before it's made into whatever it's going to be used for. Fake fur comes on a roll like cotton or wool and usually has a cloth backing. Fur's still on the leather of the animal. Apart from the look, there's the smell, fake smells...fake. Real smells leathery. There's no way it would've got past any kind of quality control here. Not with them making -so- many of those coats. Especially not on something like Sean John...

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | ![]() This is disgusting. and I don't like that some people only freak out when they find out that it's dog fur. it's still fur, and the animal still suffers. The idea that an animal should die so that people can look fashionable makes my stomach turn. However, I do wear leather. But like someone else said, those animals are used for food. Not just tossed aside.
