There is some -nice- faux fur out there and it's getting better. People probably just didn't think anything about it when they saw it in stores.
But...if you mean when they were making it...
the people that actually stitched the coats together don't earn enough to question anything. There isn't a lot of job security in a sweatshop and they already don't make much.
Getting em imported though. I don't understand it either. They must only look at the finished product and not the materials (like picking one at random and taking it apart to inspect).
That's why I say, if they'd been made in the US, it wouldn't have happened. Not just because of the workers though. Any idiot can tell the difference between fake and real fur before it's made into whatever it's going to be used for. Fake fur comes on a roll like cotton or wool and usually has a cloth backing. Fur's still on the leather of the animal. Apart from the look, there's the smell, fake smells...fake. Real smells leathery. There's no way it would've got past any kind of quality control here. Not with them making -so- many of those coats.
Especially not on something like Sean John...
