As far as what other classes to take and what area of the medical field - that's something you'll have to figure out. I highly recommend shadowing people in various positions in the medical field. Also, every college is different for the classes that it requires. I would go sit with a guidance counselor to look at the classes you've taken and the classes you still need to fulfill. Good luck!!!

| ![]() I agree with volunteering...You should try to get a volunteer position at a hospital. While I was in high school and college I volunteered at the hospital for years. I loved it and learned sooo much. I volunteered in various departments of the hospital such as pediatrics, burn center, ultrasound, and the emergency room. That will give you a really good idea as to what area you're most interested in. I highly recommend it. Good luck on your ACT!

| ![]() Definitely volunteer! Not only will it help you narrow down what fields you like, but it looks GREAT on a college application and scholarship applications! As for money...student loans are fantastic. You don't pay a dime until you graduate, and even then, the payments are pretty low and the interest rate is as low as it gets. Also, going to an in state, public university will be much cheaper than going out of state. Some states even offer a Hope Scholarship, where they pay for some of your schooling, but you have to stay and work in that state for the number of years that you took their scholarship. Not too bad a deal. |

| ![]() My husband is in medical school and my sister is in nursing school (RN). If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me. ![]() I would definately suggest going to college over trade school. My sister and I both paid for our college with student loans. It's easy to apply and get a loan for college. LOTS of people do it. I'll be taking out more loans for school when I start law school in June. Don't let the financial aspects deter you from going to college. To visit the college's financial aid office and they will tell you everything you need to know about student loans and they will make sure you have a way to pay for it. GOOD LUCK! |
