We use Cingular, have had them for about 6 years and have had no problems with them. I recently had to upgrade my plan (I have my phone and my oldest son's phone on one) and when I did, I purchased the media bundle package for him - it has been a lifesaver!!! He gets text, internet access, and we both get free cingular to cingular calls, roll-over minutes, nights and week-ends are unlimited. My bill averages about $100 month but that's partly my fault - I didn't purchase a media bundle package for my phone and sometimes I go over on my allotment of texts. And I purchased insurance on my son's phone just in case. Cingular has different plans that you can purchase and if you don't go over the minutes for calls and texting, you can get a plan as low as $50/month (if not lower). What you will find helps is any plan that allows free incoming/outgoing calls to another cell phone who has the same carrier!

T mobile here

I have a family plan 1500 minutes for $79 for 2 phones. Nights and weekends free plus all talk betwen phones or anybody else who has t mobile is free. I got razors for free for everybody plus every year we can get a new phone for the new customer price which is usually almost nothing.

I also pay $9.99 a month which allows anybody on my family plan to text or picture message Unlimited.

They also have an awesome single plan now where you get 1000 minutes plus night and weekends free for $49.99 plus a free phone.

Whoops... almost forgot...you can CHANGE your plan up or down anytime you want with tmobile. I found this VERY valuable alot of times and was not STUCK waiting for a year to roll around . I know for a fact other plans lock you in or have a bunch of strings attached or money attached to do this.
