| heating pads? Has anyone ever used aromatherapy microwavable heating pads? The ones that are filled with grain rather than the gel-filled ones? I just ordered some and there were positive reviews on the website but I was wondering anyone ever used them here and if you would recommend them?

yes, they are for me...I should have been more specific LOL... I never thought of using a heating pad for Max or Abbie...hmm...they're spoiled as it is and already get massages when they go for their grooming appointments . I can't imagine using a heating pad for them, too

| I have one that is for your neck and omg, i love it, just zap it in the micro and it feels so nice around your neck, very relaxing! I also use it when I have cramps from pms-it is the only heating pad we have in our house, love it!

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | the aromatherapy ones sometimes smell too much and they give me a head ache. i have one that goes around my neck and while the heat is nice, the smell isn't. i didn't pick it out tho, if i did i'd probably get a different scent. also, if you are cheap like me and don't want to spend the $50 for hte ones at the mall you can always uses tube socks and rice. we use them at the vets office for patients waking up from surgery. just pop them in the microwave for a few minutes and presto, a portable heating pad for any place on your body. works great for necks, stomachs, and backs.

I agree. I have thrown out 2 of the fragrant ones because they were too intense. My old standby is a pair of large mens tube sox filled with rice. I keep one in the freezer and one in the cabinet by the micro. I can have ice or heat whenever i need it. After a recent concussion and cervical strain it was nice to have both. (I use micro'd rice sox for the babies, it's calming and i don't have to worry about them getting too hot with a heating pad)

| Now that has to be the BEST tip I have picked up on YT to date! my hubby is 44 and the ache's and pains are seriously setting in!!! Like bad! And I am always doing teh bengay thing..... UGH! I hate that stuff... you can NEVER really wash it off! Rice in a sock! I am sooooo all over that! I am going to totally try it out tonight! And I am one of those who is all about the heat on my tummy when I have cramps.... I think it makes them go quicker and thus the whole thing is over with faster! so bring on the heat!!!! Can you just hear me???? Honey.. heat up my sock! Pleeeeease!!!!

| If you use large men's tube socks, just fill 1/2 to 2/3 full of rice and tie a knot in the top. If it gets soiled just empty the rice in a bowl and launder the socks. It's nice because it's a "moist" heat.
