| i know it has a lot to do with body fat (i am not in any way saying your daughter is fat) although i know that once girls have a certain amount of percentage of fat their body knows they are able to carry a baby and thus their period starts. A large reason girls are starting so young is that so many youth are overweight lately. My ex boyfriend has a niece who is 5 and must be 80 lbs.. sadly for her, her period will start very early because her body thinks she is ready.. i feel so bad for the girl.. i HOPE your daughter isn't starting.. nothing worse than having more periods than you must i think i started at 12 or 13... my mom made me feel really special.. we went out for a "girls" dinner.. and it was great. keep us posted.. hope everything is ok |

| I was 12.5 and my twin sister got it 4 months later ... my daughter was 12 & 2 months (and we were on vacatio in Cali) .... she, too, kept complaining for months about tummy aches, so when it finally happened she flew out of the hotel bathroom showing me her undies and said, "THATZ why my tummy hurt") ....

| i think i was nine, i know i was in like fourth or fifth grade, and from there i just kept developing, and it sucks, im now waiting for my treatments to be over so i can go in for a reduction, i dont remeber thought what i had thatld up to my period. i was so young and things i guesss i never paid attention, i was very very small though, so i dont know why i started early, i never was chunky till after i had my first son, i weighed 103 when i was four months pregant, and now i cant get under 150,

This is completely true. I have cousins that are very underweight and they both started their periods when they were 8 years old. My sister in law is also overweight and she told me that she started hers in the 3rd grade so that would be around the age of 8. I started mine when I was 13.

| I was almost 16. I know I was close to the last one in my class because i remember all the girls talking about having theirs on our 8th grade trip. I don't know if I could of handled it in the 3rd grade. I remember going to facility that talked about it in the 5th grade & being very embarrassed about it. 3rd grade seems so young since I was a sophomore in high school when I started mine.
