Ok. My aunt is famous for giving gifts that have absolutely NO worth either sentimentally or $$...and she's the 'rich' aunt too. she gave me a painted wooden spoon. I still to this day have NO idea what to do with it. I know it has no value by the MADE IN CHINA on the back lol - but it's WEIRD to give someone a painted wooden spoon - it's too small to hang and way too small to use as a decoration. Her last years gift to me was a plastic candle holder. Gee Thanks. by the way.....both gifts are still in the bag I brought them home in | |

| Last year my aunt...not a close aunt, she was just trying to give everyone 'something' to be nice...gave me a statue of a lighthouse from the Dollar Store. |

| Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | My aunt gave my 6 yr old son last year a horrible gift she had her sons (14) & (15) go through their school stuff and give my son folders and some pencils for Christmas gifts and the year before she had her sons go through al their old toy cars and thats what he got that year!! This year as far as i've heard she is getting him a bag of cheap animals ($1.99) she just won $10,000.00 in wendover and bought my cousin a $200.00 necklace and of course we are broke so i can't buy gifts for everyone and i don't expect a gift but she had the nerve to say to me well i'm only getting the boys a present because you probably don't have the money to get us a gift I just wanted to smack her

| I don't remember any one "worst gift" in particular. But I dislike any gift that is bought just for the sake of giving a gift, useless gifts. I cannot understand spending money for a token gift. If you insist on givng a gift to someone that you don't know what they like, want or need, then give them a fruit basket or candy. I also hate exchanging "Gift Cards". to me that is just plain stupid. Why not just exchange $50 bills and call it good. Way too much emphasis is put on gift giving, for the sake of gift giving. JMO |

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I've got to agree with you Jeanne - it sucks getting something that you know was only given to make someone feel like they really did something - I've told my mom and aunt this year - I want NOTHING - I NEED nothing They know I'm trying to downsize my home and they keep adding to them with little things I have no need or place for - I'd rather have a few really nice things in my house than a bunch of mindless cheap stuff that my aunt seems to love buying. ( don't get me wrong - I love her lol) but she's a trinket shopper. I used to get her really nice sweaters ...earrings & last year a gorgeous vest cause that's what she wears - things I knew would be pretty on her ....and this year .....I'm just BAH HUMBUG !! when you open a gift and have to ASK what it is .....it kind of takes the fun out of it lol I don't need no stinkin wooden spoon !!!! |
