| turkey day food I was just thinking about my shopping list for thanksgiving... and how much I wished I had a big group of friends to swap favorite holiday recipes with. Then I realized that I do, lol So what's your favorite holiday dish (and the how to's)? I always make cheesecake. 4 blocks of cream cheese (regular size, I think 8oz each?) 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1 cup of sugar 2 graham cracker crusts (fruit pie filling, cool whip, etc optional as a topping) Let cream cheese stand at room temp until soft blend with eggs until there are very few lumps add vanilla and sugar while the blender is still on I always blend for almost 5min, it seems to make it creamier pour into pie crusts, bake in a 350 degree pre-heated oven for about 45min or until the top starts to brown. |

My furkids Donating Member | Butternut Squash stuffing *12 cups (1/2inch cubes sourdough bread - I'm not using sourdough) (from 1 pound loaf *8 ounces bacon,(I'm not using the bacon...I don't eat pork) cut crosswise in 1/2 inch peices *1 butternut squash (about 2 pounds), peeled, seeded and cut into 1/2 inch chunks *3 stalks celery, chopped *8 oz shallots (about 4 large), finely chopped (about 1 1/2 cups *2 tablespoons chopped fresh sage leaves *salt and ground black pepper *3 cups chicken broth 1. Preheat oven to 325 F. Divide bread between two 15 1/2" by 10 1/2" jelly-roll pans or large cookie sheets. Place pans on 2 oven racks and toast bread 20 to 35 minutes or until golden, stirring bread and rotating pans between upper and lower racks halfway through toasting. Cool bread in pans on wire racks. 2. Meanwhile, in nonstick 12 inch skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until browned. Transfer bacon to very large bowl. 3. Remove all by 3 tablespoons bacon fat from skillet. Add butternut squash, celery and shallots and cook over medium high heat 15 minutes or until vegetables are tender and shallots are lightly browned, stirring frequently. Remove skillet from heat: stir in sage, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. 4. To bowl with bacon, add bread and broth, toss to mix well. Add vegetable mixture and toss. 5. Use squash mixture to stuff 12 to 16 pound turkey, or spoon into greased 13" by 9" glass baking dish. Cover baking dish with foil and bake stuffin in preheated 325 oven 20 minutes. Remove foil and stir stuffing, "Bake 25 minutes longer or until heated through and lightly browned. I just copied this from Good Housekeeping....I'm sure you can add to this recipe to make more if you want. I am going to double the recipe...there are usually 22 of us at Thanksgiving dinner.. I don't care for sourdough bread (doesn't even sound good!) I am probably going to use Arnold's Oat Nut Bread...You could use what you want and make this stuffing your own.. Let me know how it comes out! and I'll let you know Happy Cooking, eating and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

| Wanted to share this yummy appetizer one....... These are for appetizer rolls....... Take 2 cans of refrigerated crescent rolls, unroll, but leave in squares, don't pull apart in the normal triangles. Set aside. Mix together the following: 1 (8oz) pkg. cream cheese (soften) 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded) 4 oz chopped chili's 2 Tablespoon picante sauce (like Pace) 1/2 tsp. chili powder 1/4 tsp. onion powder 1/4 tsp. garlic powder Mix the above together and spread on crescent squares (all over, in thin layer). Roll up and chill for 1 hour before slicing. After 1 hour or so, slice into round slices and bake for 10-12min. These are yummy....especially if you like a little spice. They are even good cold!

I have one that is sort of like that, but I guess the healthy version.... Orange Cool Whip Salad 1 large container of Cool Whip 1 sm/med. cotainer of Cottage Cheese 2 pkgs orange JellO 1 small can crushed pineapple 1 small can mandarin oranges Drain fruit and mix all together....yes, poor dry JellO in there (don't make the JellO) and refrigerate....this is ready in no time and you can play around w/ the amount you put in there....more oranges, no pineapple, etc.

| Cranberries! I'm definitly not the house-wife type girl (even though I want to be a housewife when I get older) so right now I'm learning how to do all this stuff. My boyfriend wrote up all the food we need to cook for Thanksgiving, tells me what he's cooking, and what his mom and my mom are cooking, and leaves nothing for me So it looks like I'm just in charge of cranberries (he didn't even think I could do them!), and helping his mom becuase she's cooking at our house. Wow, I'm reliving the memory of when I found out he didn't leave anything for me, and I think I wanna cry

| rae rae, here's something that's really easy you can suprise them with Cut up 2-3 cucumbers, and 3 white onions onions. Put them in a bowl w/cover and add equal parts (maybe 1 1/2 cup) of white viniger and water, and about 1/2 cup of sugar. Let it sit for a few days (the longer the better) in the fridge. It comes out sweet & tangy, yummy |

Greenbean casserole, or sweat potatoes w/ marshmellows on top! I don't know any recipes, but I could probably find one online if you like.
