My furkids Donating Member | I will continue to say "Merry Christmas!" I had originally posted this on WT..however there are not alot of members on the forum yet...thought I would post it here...This irritated me last year and now the season is coming up again...FAST! I'm not posting this to start harsh words...this is MY OPINION and how I feel.......I believe it is MY RIGHT to say "Merry Christmas"! I am 49 yrs old and have said this my entire life. This is america! the land of free speach! Last Christmas after I paid for my gifts I said "Merry Christmas" The woman at the counter looked at me and said "Happy Holidays" I looked back at her and said NO! "Merry Christmas"! I REFUSE to take Christ out of Christmas....THIS IS MY RIGHT! and no one is going to take it from me..we have had different beliefs from different religions for YEARS! why change things now! If you don't believe in Christmas just smile and walk away...say nothing! but don't take MY right away....And if I want to pray in public, school, say the pledge of allegiance I am going to do it!! These are things I have done my entire life....and I am NOT going to stop now... just want to know how you all feel about this one!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Me too - I could care less about being pc ...I say Merry Christmas and always will - no one can take that away from us is right & for those who don't like it -be GLAD SOMEONE IS SAYING IT TO YOU - these days the things that meant so much to us as kids is slowely fading into controversary & it's getting so people don't know WHAT to say - so they just don't say anything - Half the fun of the holidays is all the people that actually speak to you that normally wouldn't ...they bring out the best in people (as well as the worst) so really what is the big deal about 2 words ?? When something is said in sincerity and with well meaning ....people need to get over the actual word and just celebrate what it MEANS in their hearts. You RING ON Girl ! Merry Christmas back at ya ! |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I couldn't agree with you more. I'll still say Merry Christmas. People these days are just rediculous and way too sesitive. In this country, we have the freedoms of speech and religion, which gives us EVERY right to wish someone Merry Christmas. If someone wished me "Happy Hanuka" (sp) I wouldn't get offended, I would thank them because that would mean that they care about me enough to wish me a happy whatever-I-celebrate - even if it's not the same holiday I believe in. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

My furkids Donating Member | COLOR]PHEEEEWWW! Didn't know what I was in for when I posted this one! lol This is an instance that happened last year: A little boy donated some money to a man collecting for the Salvation Army. After the little boy dropped the money in the bucket the man gave him a lollipop and said Merry Christmas...there was a woman standing by and heard this...she went up to the man (with the little boy still standing there) and told him that she was very insulted by what he had said...the man had a couple of, not very nice, words to say her and she left in a huff! I am so tired of "potically correct"!!!! Ever since I could talk it was always Merry Christmas and I am NOT going to change now! I used to have my own business....I am a nail tech....I would have little gifts for my customers....one of my customers was a Jehovahs Witness....she very politely told me that she couldn't accept the gift and I was fine with that...I am not about to push my beliefs on ANYONE! So,....they shouldn't be pushed on me....SOOOOOOO... [COLOR="[COLOR="red" MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

| I read today about a state college student government that outlawed the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance at meetings -- one young lady defiantly said the Pledge aloud in violation of their new rule. Hooray for her and hooray for everyone that stands up for the rights of the majority as well as the minority. Mutual respect beats giving up our indiviual rights any time. So, early Happy Thanksgiving and an even earlier Merry Christmas to all from one who lives in one nation under God!

| i did see something on the bottom of the cnn scroll bar the other night about walmart is now telling it's employees it's ok to say merry christmas>> well i don't know about anyone else but i can't see a place that only wants to let people work part time to keep them from getting benefits and making us wait forever in lines to cutt back hours knowing they pay min. wage or a little over if i can say merry christmas or not if i worked at one! i think it's foolish if someone would get offended by someone saying merry christmas & or happy holidays it's not like your hexing people or telling them to drop dead..it's just trying to share a little cheer! i personally like merry christmas myself taht's what i'm use to but i guess happy holidays is supposed to be a generic cover for any & all people .that just seems so impersonal and well generic! as for a woman making a scene with a salvation army guy doesn't she have better things to do than show a child what a fool people can be! how rude she should've been smacked on site!!

| It's MERRY CHRISTMAS for me too. I have dear Jewish friends who LOVE LOVE LOVE CHRISTMAS. Although they do not celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday they do greet me with a cheerful MERRY CHRISTMAS when we deliver our annual Christmas Cheer to our neighbors. And I greet them with a HAPPY HANUKKAH It works for us MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! |

I will use Happy Holidays if it is at the beginning of the holiday season (before Thanksgiving) if I am not going to be seeing the person until after the holidays...and if I know someone that is a religion that doesn't celebrate Christmas (as I do) then I will say Happy Holidays...Several years ago I worked in a department store...it was Christmas time....a little boy and his Mom came through my register,.....I asked him..."Who's coming soon?" the little boy looked at me like I had 3 heads!! that's when the Mom told me that they don't celebrate Christmas...I apologized and she said there was no reason to apologize...there was no yelling, screaming or making a scene..and that was the end of it....
