| ![]() My opinion..Yes it's rude. I absolutely hang up on everyperson I call that has songs and a bunch of crud I have to wait for when I call them. YEP it's your right to have what you want and it's MY RIGHT to hang up on people that have this junk. By the way.. has it ever dawned on you that lots of people , also like yourself ,have cell phones and we don't want to waste our minutes listening to this junk.

![]() ![]() ![]() Although "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" is one of the greatest songs of all times, it's not a good idea to have it, or any other song, on your VM when expecting calls from potential employers. "We're not against rap... we're not against rappers... but we are against those thugs!".

| ![]() I think it depends on how bad you want a job. She may have been trying to do you a favor. Many, if not most, potential employers would probably just hang up without granting an interview. It is rather insulting to assume that the caller has nothing better to do with their time than listen to your choice of music. Sorry if that seems harsh. ![]() |

Yeah, but I wasn't really expecting this employement agency to call me back. It's been a few weeks now, and last I spoke with them they said I would have to do the contacting. As for other potential jobs, I'm not expecting any call-backs because I've already been either past the call back deadline, or turned down. That's the reason I change it. Other then that I usually do change it, even if I'm expecting a doctor to call me back I would change it temporarily.

I'm not shooting anyone ![]() I'm just saying how wasn't it rude of HER! And like I just posted, I really wasn't expecting this agency to call me back, or any other important calls for the time being. And, I'm asking for opinions on her response to my vm, not my vm itself. I really wanted to put Trina's "B R Right" but I don't think that would be too good if my parents or grandparents call..They would probably have a heart attack!

| ![]() I love electronic toys and if you want to put a song on your voicemail and have a good time with, that's creative and it is your right. It's also fun, BUT, as a teacher, I have to be honest and say that when I've called a parent at home and have to listen to their song, their sayings, philosophies, and whatnot, I get really annoyed. These are nice, young people who are enjoying themselves, but sometimes you have to keep in mind who your audience might be before you get too creative. I think your voicemail message should be short, to the point and not annoying to people who may nopt be in the mind frame to listen to your self expression. (For example, your child's teacher, or a prospective employer).I think the idea of playing with the ringtones that someone made is a good one. Have a great song for different callers calling you. You can also be totally creative and self-expressive in other ways, like the way you dress, or make up a website. I hope you don't think I'm being rude - I'm not -I really believe in creativity and self-expresion, but there's a time and place for certain things. I don't think the employment agency meant to be rude, she may not have put it to you in a nice way. Judy Last edited by judyeve; 11-03-2006 at 06:58 AM. |

| ![]() I'm afraid I would have found it annoying also and it possibly would not look good for a prospective employer. A nice professional greeting would be better. I'd change it at least until after I got a job. |

![]() ![]() Well said. If you want people to think of you as a mature professional, their first impression of you should not be an annoying voice mail greeting.

I disagree, the lady was from an employment agency and is trying to find a job for you. It is her job to see that you make a good impression. A voice mail message like that would discourage a prospective employer just like you showing up for an interview dressed inappropriately or having your cell phone ring during the interview. If you want to be thought of as a mature adult you have to put out that message in everything you do.

Did you read my posts where I said I was NOT expecting any important phone calls?

| ![]() I have a ringback tone which is my callers hear a song in lieu of ring when they call me, but when they call they hear "please hold while we contact (name)" than the song plays. Usually when I answer everyone is like you picked up too soon I was enjoying that song!!. But for my VM I have a very short but professional greeting. I personally do not like long VM greeting. Also, when I first heard my lil' cousins VM greating it was a long drawn out song, and I was like what the heck is this. I did not know it was her VM. Maybe the lady at the the employment agency did not know that was your VM. |
