| Voicemail ?..is this rude??? So yesterday on my way to school I was playing around with my voicemail, and switched my greeting to the first verse of Bone Thugs N Harmony's song "Thuggish Ruggish Bone". It sounds kinda bad cuz it's in the car, but you can still here it and understand it and it's less than a minute. So today I get a call from the employement agency. I didn't recognize the number, so I let voicemail get it. I check the voicemail, and it was someone from the employement agency calling about a job. At the end of her message she says "You might want to change your voicemail because it's loud and extremely lengthy." My friends and I always give eachother crap about long voicemails, but there my friends...not strangers!!!! Plus, I've had longer. When "Oooh" by zombie nation was out I had the whole song! Not once did I get a complaint about that. Does anyone else think it's rude to leave a message like that for someone you don't even know? When she said this she did have an attitude also, so it wasn't like she was just trying to be polite. Even if she was just trying to be polite though...it's none of her business how long my vm is!!!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I did all my sons BT&H CD's and I can see that would be annoying ...I LOVE them ....but they aren't for everyone If you're expecting calls from employment agencies - you want to be as professional as possible even with your voice mail - that's sometimes the first impression people get of us..... and just to let you know - I love music and have a zillion cd's but when my son had a whole song on his voice mail once - i used to just hang up and wait for him to call me back (unless I REALLY like the song) |

| Well, she is at work with probably a million calls to make and sitting through your voice mail probably really annoyed her. It may be rude of her to say so, but probably is giving you good advice if you are looking for a job. You might not want a potential employer to have to wait through it as well. But it is your voice mail and you can have anything you want on it. |

| I think that when looking for a job it's best to be as professional as possible. By having that on your VM you risk people not taking you seriously enough and considering you not mature enough (Not that you're not, just may look like it)

And whenever I call someone that has a long voicemail greeting, I hang up and wait for them to call me back. Different strokes for different folks. This was something that obviously wasn't the employment agency's stroke. There's nothing wrong with that. | |

| I always have songs on my vm..that's just my thing. For the past few months though, I did have a standard greeting for employers when they call. Then I figured, I love this song, always have loved this song and always will. Since I can't find a link for it for myspace, it's going on the VM! My friend works for another agency and he said once he called someone and there VM was of sex slapping sounds! He didn't say anything about that, and my bone is not as derragatory as that! It's just about hustlin, lol. If she doesn't like calling workers, maybe she should be in a different line of work then. It wasn't even a minute long. Most songs are A LOT longer. I guess it's just the fact of her not even knowing me and saying something about it. If it was my mom, a friend, or my boyfriend or anyone else I knew I wouldn't have thought twice about it.

Not really...This employement agency definitly DOES NO get good reviews from me. This just adds to that now. Now I want to put a real annoying, lound screeching song on my voicemail, call her and have her call me back, then she get get the voicemail again and I''ll say "Oh I changed my voicemail per your advice, what ya think?" LOL...yeah now I'm being immature, but I don't care Maybe I'll sing on it myself, Whitney Houston "I Will Always Love You"....see how long I can carry a tune LOL Also, I really wasn't expecting them to call me. When I got laid off I told my rep I wanted something in Roundlake, or direct hire. She said "Well you have to contact Roundlake, or the direct hire office yourself"...She said nothing to me about sending out my resume, like they did the first time. I was really P'd at this because its like "OK your job is to find me a job...if I was going to find one myself I wouldn't go to you" I honestly wasn't expecting anyone for a job to call me.

Donating YT 11K Club Member | well....my friend has a loud song playing when people call him and i think it's loud also and unprofessional but he isn't looking for a job so he doesn't care. I guess if you are going to have employers calling you for jobs you do have to be very professional no matter what job it is. You have to look good. So I would change it. You can just change it to your ringer so that you can hear it when people call but it just rings to people that are calling you |

| You asked for opinions so don't shoot the messenger. I personally think that if you are looking for a job and expecting potental employers to call you on that number then you should remove the song. My kids both do this. They have songs that play for their ringer so instead of hearing a ring you hear a song until they answer, but then my youngest either plays a song or her and her friends sing a song for her voicemail recording. To me that's annoying, they aren't that long, but it seems like it's forever, and because it's a radio, it's usally not very clear, or it's loud, or something like that. I usually end up hanging up because it drives me nuts. However, if you like it and are ok with it, then who cares what she said and don't let it bother you. Next call please.

| You've pretty much gotten the same answer I would have given so a little off the subject....... my best friend has "Brown Eyed Girl" as her ringer so that when I call that song plays for me instead of you hearing it ring (although she hears a ring tone on her end). She always picks it up just as I'm about to sing the Fa la la la ... ti da part and she gets an earful. I told her if she doesn't want to hear me singing it, wait a little longer to answer!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | JMO When I was laid off I went to an outplacement seminar and they advised having a seperate line/message for perspective employers to call on. They said you should not have a phone where kids will be answering etc. While no one can tell you to change your message I would take it as advice for future reference.

| I do agree that a long voicemail can get annoying, but it's not her place to comment on it, she's not your mother. BOO!
