| Need help I am planning my first plane trip by myself. Every vacation we go on is usually a cruise (in which we just drive to galveston and leave from there) or a company vacation through my husbands work so I dont know how to really plan a trip. Me and my friend want to go to a pet industry trade show in Chicago in less than 2 weeks, I have found decent priced tickets on orbits and cheaptickets.com. I would like to possibly bring chloe since this is a pet industry show. Does anyone know what airlines I should be looking at to try and take chloe with me? I will only take her with me if she can fly in the plane with me. SO I was wondering do they only allow this in first class, coach, etc..? I know most airlines will only allow a few dogs so I do know that I have to plan to call ahead and so far I am looking at taking American Airlines but first I wanted to see if anyone knew anythign about this. This is all new to me so any info is appreciated.

| Not sure on what air line to take, but you will Love Chicago. We went there 2 spring breaks ago and are going back in the spring. We went to the American Girl Doll shop for my daughter. Its an awesome place. Our hotel was about 3-4blocks from the Magnificate Mile. and about 7blocks from the Navy Pier. We had so much fun shopping etc. Have a nice time. What hotel are you staying at??? Also do allow for plenty of extra money for parking. Even at our hotel, we had to pay to park. 35.00 for two days. We went to the American Girl Place first before we were checked into our hotel... 20.00 for 2 hours. LOL Still fun. They are a great Coach store too!!!! Guards and everything at the door. The Nike Store is like 4 stories too. Have a great time... Hope you come back with all kinds of neat stuff to sell. I have used cheeptickets.com for my boss at work and he's always been satisified. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I think American allows pets in the cabin and Delta, not sure about Southwest. You can take her on coach but most airlines have a 1 per per flight limit I believe. Have fun in Chicago!! I grew up on the Chicago Border and now live 45 minutes away.

| Hey Shana, I have flown with Vivi three times...all on Continental. She was allowed on the plane in coach....they are very specific about the size of bag and list the specifications on their website. Check the animal requirements of the airline you want to travel. You have to buy a ticket for the dog....for Vivi it was 50.00 each way. We went to Atlanta as well as Florida. We also had to have a note from the vet saying that she had all her shots and was healthy to travel. So far they have never asked to see it. Hope this helps....Hugs

I really want to take chloe but Im afraid I may not have time to make all the preparations I need to be able to take her. I hate it when I do stuff like this!

| Chicago is a hub for NWA. They charge $80 each way. Need to call ahead for reservations. We had good experiences with NWA. Have fun! It sounds like a great time!

| I'm so jealous! I went to that show two years ago with my mom and it is the very best one- at least on this coast. I got so many neat things. I kept trying to get her to go this year but she just built a horse farm and has been crazy busy. Oh well, maybe next year. Have fun and please let us hear all about it.

| As far as I know most airlines allow a limited number of pets, so you do need to call them. Make sure you also ask your hotel if they allow pets. Unfortunately many don't Good luck with the planning! |

| Hey! I'm going to the Backer show too!! I know Southwest doesn't allow dogs. Do you know if they are allowed into the show? I thought they were only allowed to go to the grooming part. I'm way out in the west suburbs but if you get stuck or need anything let me know!

| Hey Shana, depending on what you plan to do while you're there, you might want to leave your munchkin at home - I know with Buddy he gets antsy when he's out of familiar surroundings and if I'm trying to work or do business it can sometimes be a distraction and I can get a lot more done if I leave him with with friends. Also, you'll find that simple things like going out to dinner can be a challenge because you can't leave a dog alone in most hotel rooms. Also, you'll have that much less to worry about in preparation for the trip. But, if it's a quick trip, and you have a mellow pup, and you just do room service or take out, it could be a fun trip for the 2 of you! Have fun - it sounds like a cool show! |
