| My mom was a realtively heavy smoker and had been smoking since she was a teen and quit using the Commit losenges. They really worked wonders for her. Good luck!!

| So are you still hanging in there?? If you are, you are my hero, and if not I know when you try again you are strong enough to kick it completely. As for me I quit for about three months but am right back where I started, only 10 lbs heavier!!

| My husband and I quit smoking together on Jun 2, 2001 with the help of our family doctor, Zyban for 84 days, along with nicorettes and committs. Our doctor said he didn't care how long we used the "aids" just don't smoke. It did help to quit together and have some support. Yep, we did gain some weight, and now we are losing it....its been an interesting trip, meeting some interesting people. Give it some time and lean on someone or something else in times of stressfull cravings. That too shall pass......

| I smoke now that is out of the way, I enjoy smoking. BUT I did quit for 5 years, and then I got a job were every one smoked SO I start again that's been 15 years ago. I do DISAGREE with what someone said about your children would smoke my daughter is 20 years old and has NEVER smoke and can not stand it, she will not let you smoke in her house, car she said it nasty and I do agree with that. My son 16 doesn't smoke he doesn't like the smell on him runs the girl off lol.STICK TO IT YOU GOT TO WANT TO QUIT YOU HAVE TO PUT YOUR MIND TO IT.Good luck and best wishes. |

| Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | OK i have been smoking for many years now i started at 15 under peer pressure i am 25 now and i regret ever starting. Ii have quit two times both times were when i was pregnant and i was so stupid to start again my husband would not quit after my second baby was born and i hated the smell well i got into a fight with him and had a cigarette and that was all it took. I want to quit also but i am so addicted to putting in my mouth and inhaling it's not the nicotine for me it's the puff it's the 5 minutes of peace from my kids or when i worked to get away to go outside and be alone i want to quit again as well but i know I'm not ready this is the hardest point where you are right now when you hit 5 days it is so much easier you don't crave it because the nicotine is out of your system. Chewing gum helped me and also i hate to smoke right after i brush my teeth so i would brush my teeth every time i had a craving and it worked. Also the have these nicotine cigarettes that you puff on to help ween you off it's like the patch but in like an inhaler form you don't light it just twist it on and off there is no smoke you just suck in air and it gives you little doses of nic to help ween you down like the patch. I commend you for trying to quit i know it's hard but if you really want to stop then don't give in to the temptation. I know this sounds stupid but a lot of it is psychological and i told myself this is my last cigarette and i told my empty pack goodbye and i would miss it but i had to move on and i threw it in the trash it helps your mind let go of the attachment(I'm not crazy LOL) We are here for you and also sunflower seeds, Popsicles, jolly ranchers and anything you can chew on helps to. | Hi Kimberley, I'm so happy for you! Making up your mind to quit is a huge step, As far as dealing with your cravings what worked for me was a combination of lots of things. sugar free bubble gum, Wellbutrin, lots of water but the best thing to do is CHANGE something when you have a craving. Even if you just get up and change chairs. also walks, get down on the floor and pretend you are a dog - it doesn't matter. THe end of day three should have your body clear of the nicotine so you have one more to go. Don't eat yourself to death but try munching on raw veggies. Watch out for chocolate you can really put the weight on if you use it for a substitute. If anyone in hour house smokes, ask them to do so outside away from you. Go places where you are not allowed to smoke - the library, movies. Drink lots of juices too. If I think of anything else I'll let you know. Good luck! |

I don't know what it's like being addicted to smoking, but being addicted to anything is horrible and I really feel sorry for people who have to go through it.
