| babysitting son's cat My oldest son is a truckdriver. For the first time, his wife went with him this week. I've been going to their house every day during my lunch hour to feed his cat, Buddy, and take care of their parakeets. Buddy is 4 years old and my son rescued him when he was too little to leave his mother. Some little boys were chasing him with ball bats and trying to kill him! My son was a cop at the time and put the kitten in his shirt and took the boys home to their respective parents and told what they did. Anyway, I just left Buddy, and he is PITIFUL! This 17 lb cat climbed up in my lap and "talked" to me the entire time I was there. When I left, he laid down on my feet to keep me from leaving. I don't really care for cats, but I hate seeing him this way. His "parents" will be home tomorrow night and I know he can't wait for them to get home. Anybody know what cats like to play with or what kind of treats they like? I'd like to pick something up for him and take it over after work today to maybe get his mind off his Daddy and Mommy. As for toys, anything with a string or even just a ball with a bell in it. Cats are pretty simple when it comes to toys. Anything with catnip in it is a bonus too. But I'm sure nothing replaces his mommy and daddy, but it's nice for you to come there and give him a little attention. Good luck. | |

| My cat absolutely loves Temptations treats. They are crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. Or a can of tuna would win you MAJOR points! As far as toys, I would recommend those plastic balls with the bells inside or like the others have said, catnip. Maybe you should turn the on the TV or radio for him so he doesn't feel so alone. Poor guy. He is eventually going to win you over and you will end up with a kitten!!! |

| devoted to Lucy! Thanks for the advice! I took a catnip mouse and a package of treats over after work and he was batting the mouse around when I left. I had to love on him and "tempt" him with the treats but he finally caved and devoured the 2 I gave him. I feel better now. BTW, If he produces a kitten it'll be a miracle! ----he's neutered because he was producing kittens EVERYWHERE and fighting all the time. Kim & Lucy |

| Awww poor baby He sounds like a doll. That is so sweet of you to take care of him, while your son is away. Cat's love any toy with feathers on it!

| update on babysitting the cat! Buddy's Daddy and Mommy are on their way home! I can't wait until he sees them. I've been taking pictures every day on my camera phone and sending them to my son so he could see that Buddy's been taken care of, but I know it's not the same for either of them. They should be in late tonight and I know Buddy's going to meet them at the door! Kim and Lucy |
