Can anyone suggest a puppy for a 6 yr old bou

my son had been looking at a small beagle mixed i with I cant remember what, but he told me, these dogs are really expensive too and lots of people are looking for them. Cant remember the mix, maybe a daschund (SP). He talke like those were so cute and small and kinda slick hair. But he dont want to pay a lot right now for his sons first puppy in case he decides he dont want one or like it. He has always been scared even of little puppies till I got Kizzy and he loved her. I'm sure they will be looking. He just wondered what kind might be the most gentle without shedding.

I'd go for one of the teapot yorkies. He would be small and yet durable, and they don't shed. Plus the hair can be kept short.

What about a Jack Russel? First dog that came to mind - I hear they are super intelligent and easy to train - compact size, short hair - a real BOY'S DOG! lol Plus, I think they are super cute.. especially when they're puppies!

I agree - Bichons are non-allergic, also do not shed and can be kept clipped short. They are very playful, but also love to snuggle. Very good with kids and also sturdy for a smaller dog (10-15 lbs).

Are you referring to a Pugle - beagle and pug mix? They are "all the rage" within the past 6 months and are expensive!

This is my grandson with kizzy. Dont he look like he needs a puppy. LOL. I looked at some of those puggles on the web but sounds like some get pretty big. I will mention the jack russell to my son as i've heard they are good with kids and my neices little boy has one. I never thought of that kind. But I will mention it to my son.

You MIGHT want to research the "HYPER" factor because playign is great but we all need down time too.

Jack Russell is a 10 on 1-10 on Hyper factor.. but they are very intelligent

What about a West Highland Terrier? Super smart and not too big or too small. Your son would have a blast teaching it cool tricks. You can teach those dogs anything!!!

Oh PLEASE not a Jack Russell! The very first dog my family got was a Jack Russell. They are super smart, but they need TONS and TONS of exercise. Ours was so hyper and it could never get all of its energy out so it was frustrated and mean!!!! It would get so excited and hyper that she would jump up and just bite people in the face!!! We had to get rid of her. I sure was sad at the time, but it was a blessing in disguise. After that, we got our first Yorkshire Terrier. Now collectively my family has 6 of them!

I think a TeaPot yorkie would be ideal!!!!!!!!!!! They are lap dogs and it can really teach him how to love and respect small animals.

So, TEAPOT YORKIE has my vote!!!

How about a silky? They are like yorkies but bigger, and longer snout, essentially more sturdy yorkies.
