| we had a tornado today. I have had one heck of a day. Me and my son blaine are down at the camper cleaning it having a good ol time. It started to rain so i turned on the radio..i'm terrified of storms. And it said there was tornado watches and warnings but it wasn't for my area..so just in case i go ahead and get out a blanket and warmer clothes for blaine and I..well it started storming so i put the warm clothes on us and all of a sudden it got bad..as I was headed out the door it said a tornado was headed straight for us. I didn't have time to go anywhere safe so i wrapped the blanket around us and headed for our old chicken coop. I knew it was safer than the camper. I flung open the door and threw blaine in cause i couldn't get the door shut the wind was so strong. I finally managed to get it closed but it took every ounce of strength and fear I had. I was so scared. I put blaine in the corner and i cuddled up over him..I was crying and praying. I was so scared. To make matters worse the kids were supposed to be home at that time. I kept praying that the school held them over or that they were at the neighbor's house..I didn't know what to do. I didn't know if I should leave blaine there and go look for them or not. I didn't have time to leave.I have never been so scared in my life. Our town is a mess. We got lucky. We had minor damage to our camper..a tree was uprooted..limbs were down and a few things were way across the yard but we were safe. And the girls thank god the school didn't let them out and my son was in another town too thank god. When blaine seen his daddy.(he came home he didn't know if we were dead or alive)..he said to his daddy.."we had to go to the chicken coop and mommy was bawling her head off"..he's only 3 bless his heart lol..but he did everything i told him too..even though i was panicked..he was calm and did what i asked..im so proud of him..

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Wow! That's right out of a movie script! I'm so glad you survived. I'm thinking you did TERRIFICALLY in a horrible, horrible situation. I'll tell you what, I'd bet little Blaine has that memory the rest of his life of how his mama saved his life in a chicken coop. Thanks for sharing the story. It is inspiring.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Seriously, I just lost my mom at the beginning of this month, and I have a million wonderful memories of what she did for me. But if she had huddled over me in a chicken coop with a tornado tearing everything to shreds outside, that memory would be No. 1 on my list. You did good.

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | So thankful you and Blaine and family are all ok. Those storms are so scarey, I definately remember them from my childhood growing up in Missouri and then living in Topeka, Kansas when Jack was in the Air Force. Many times we had to hit the basement. When I was about seven a tree uprooted and just missed me, to this day I get so frightened of storms. I recall our sunday school teacher telling us that when we had those lightening and thunder storms that it was only the Angels in Heaven bowling and the thunder was they made a strike :-) they sure made a lot of em :-) I pray that there was no fatalities from the tornado and storms back there and that Blaines fright from all this will doon deminish, tell him he sounded like such a brave little guy and he did a good job taking care of his mommie. | alaska..i'm so sorry to hear about your mom..and thank you for saying what u did. That was really nice of you.. Baby..thank you as well..I am so frightened of any storms and this one had me soo scared. But the worst part was not knowing where my girls were. I was in the camper and didn't see if the bus went by..so I had no idea if they were inside, at the neighbors or still at school..it all hit so quickly..and all i could do was pray that they were safe. I didn't have time to find out and that was the hardest part. All i could do was pray that god was watching over them..actually it was more of a plee. I've never felt so torn or helpless in my life. I knew I couldn't take blaine out to go find them..and I knew I couldn't leave him..so I didn't know what to do. I hope I never have to feel so helpless like that again. When we left the chicken coop to go see...I was scared cause they weren't there and I didn't knwo where they were or if they were safe..and thank god my dad called as soon as I walked in..I was crying and trying to tell him that yes we were fine but I didn't know where they girls were. I knew where adam was..but not them..he said calm down sis..the school held them over..that made me cry harder ..cause i was so releived..I knew they were safe there.. It was one heck of a day I know that..my poor husband had been calling and couldn't get a hold of us..he was coming home and he had no idea if we were alive or not.I felt so bad for him.. anyway..i'm just glad it's over with and no one was hurt..
