| Animal abuse at a groomer that needs to be stopped! Some of you might know the story I posted last night about my cat being kept from me at the groomers when she told me to go there after 6. I posted my story on Craigslist and someone who used to work there just responded. You will never believe what she told me about the La Mesa Pet hotel. It is a grooming/boarding/day care facility. It turns out they did this to SEVERAL people and do it so that they can charge the extra boarding fee. The lady from C/L that contacted me said She worked the front desk and a lady once called to say that she is on her way and will be 10 minutes late. The worker clocked out, locked the door, but when she heard the lady, she opened up and gave her the pet. She later on got yelled at by the manager(who is also the owner's son) saying that she was supposed to close at exactly 6 and charge a boarding fee of at least $25. Weird since the boarding fee regularly is $10. She said this happens ALL THE TIME there but the people are usually just pay the fee so they won't have to deal with the drama. Oh, but not me! But there is worse. She witnessed the manager punching a muzzled cocker spaniel while grooming. She said that they dry their animals in morning in cages with no bottom and they turn big cold fans on them. The dogs go w/out water from 6 pm until 8 am. It really isn't 24 our care like it is advertised. A person does live there in the back but usually doesn't do the walk through and just stays in his house. She said many people pay for "playtime" for their pets and the pets are kept in the cages the entire time to poop/pee there. They are not given food bowls, the food is just thrown on the bottom of the cage. The manager takes the treats given to the dogs home to his dogs. They also do not give them the blankets that some customers give their dogs because they don't want to clean them. She said that people have to make appointments to see the facility and they are only shown one room in the front when there are really 4 kennels that are really run down. It is on their pamplet to schedule the "tour." NOTE: A red flag comes up if they only want you to visit the day care during certain times. The cages are rusted out, there are nails hanging down. During the holidays they cram themselves so full of dogs that they have shifts where half of the dogs are inside and half are outside. So many are left outside overnight. They don't have airconditioning. The lady gave me a name of another worker who has complained about them. The Pet hotel threatened to sue her for slander because she has no proof. So she is afraid to speak out about this. Most of the people who work there are family. If I have to file a police report to protect myself against them (because of extortion with my cat last night) then so be it. I want all of this stopped. They are doing so many wrong things here! Someone needs to work there undercover and get some pictures of what goes on there. I wish they hadn't seen my face or I would so do it! Any ideas on who I can call for help? Donating YT 30K Club Member | I don't know if the Better Business Bureau can help or the Chamber of commerce or the Animal Control. That is horrible. Thank God you got your cat back. How can people be so money hungry and have noe feelings for the animals they are entrusted with.

| yeah, I am pretty shocked by her story. But I kind of knew that the manager was looking to make money off of me, that is why I didn't give the extra money she tried to extort out of me. But I had no idea that there was so much more to the story about how those animals are being treated. It is so hard to find a good groomer. A lot of groomers to get to feeling burnt out because some people don't train their animals. But that is no excuse to abuse them. Please everyone get recommendations and tour the facility you decide to board or groom your pet at. I really wish my yorkie and my cat had voices so they could tell me if they got abused over there. Those people take advantage of that fact. |

| I would contact animal control and the humane society if you have one along with the BBB. Some of these animals could be on medicine that they are not receiving. This is a horrible story.

| That's horrible!! These people should not be near any animals! I'd call the humane society or ASPCA to at least get these animals out and then call the BBB too. I'd hate to have my baby there thinking I had brought her to a good place. |

| Thats horrible!!!! How dare them! People put their trust in them with their loved pets and really believe that they are getting what they were told when in reality it is not even close. I wish there was a way to tell everyone that takes their pets there or even people considering it about how badly their pets are treated. They need to be shut down right away!!!!

I will definitely call all the places you guys suggested. About the medication: she said some people requested their dogs have water down ALL the time because of medications. They never did that because #1 they didn't want to pay for even the paper waterbowls for the cages and #2 they did not want the dogs to pee more. Even though they are locked in the cages all day to poop and pee where they sleep. They just lie to customers and tell them that they take them out. Then they even charge extra for "playtime" that isn't even given to the dogs! That is so low. I do have another question. What is the difference between slander and freedom of speech? I feel like me speaking out about what is going on is THE RIGHT thing to do. I am trying to encourage these two girls to speak out. But they are afraid of getting sued for slander and defamation of character because they can't afford it. Is proof needed? Should I file a police report from what happened the other night to protect myself from being sued for telling my story? Should I encourage other people to do the same? The only thing lacking is proof. The lady wishes that she would have stuck around and video taped it, but she wanted to get away from it. | |

| See if you can sit down with someone from animal control/humane society. I am sure they deal with these situations all the time and could answer many of your questions and also protect you from these people.
