Bird People...HELP - Is this someones PET BIRD ?

I still can't get over the fact the trees are full of Quaker Parakeets around here...I had a friend in Md who used to breed and sell them..they are free here! LOL

That is very interesting. I would e-mail the pictures to the ornithology dept. at a university. I've done this a couple times with different animals that I've seen. Universities are usually very helpful and interested. I bet the ornithology dept. at UT would be helpful, especially since it's banded. I don't think it's a pet but it might be an endangered or threaten species and they would be glad to know its where abouts. It doens't look like any pigeon I've seen, it's definitely some varitey of pigeon or dove, maybe a rare one.

Keep us posted if you find out what it is, I would be interested to know.

Good thinking ! Univ. OF Houston is nearby - I can mail it to them I bet....thanks and that's a good idea I'm interested too - I've never seen a tagged bird up close and am just glad it wasn't someones house-bird....

He sure didn't act like the pigeons I've been around though...

You were too busy on your Rhonda and Deb Thread ? LOL - I read that one every day ...sometimes you guys are on such a roll I just sit and read - and LAUGH

and bummer - nope he didn't come back - once I built my ladder and was going to try to get close - he flew off. He hung out for almost 3 hours on my fence though - it was pretty cool
