| What is wrong with people? OK, have to vent. One of my coworkers always stops to ask about Tucker. Last week she got a papillion/poodle mix. (From the worst pet store in NJ, but that is another story). Anyway, the other day she was showing me pictures and telling me how much she loves her little guy, Jack. Today she stops me in the hallway and says "You are not going to believe what that little bast#%d did! I am so mad I won't even talk to him" I said what did he do? He peed on my couch! Then this morning I was getting ready for work and he went to the door so I put the leash on him and I was putting my coat on and he peed on the floor. I was like, Lynn, he's a puppy! You have to be ready to run with them the second you get the look. She also mentioned that when he peed on the couch she didn't see him do it. so, I was talking about how we don't let Tucker out of our sight or he pees everywhere. I said a puppy needs time and patience, and he's a little dog so it may take longer. (And from a puppy mill so there may be some other issues). she so did not want to hear it! She was ranting how she'll get rid of him if he ever does that again. so I said, well, if you are going to get rid of him, give him to me. (No, Megan I would not keep him I'd find him a good home). And she said "I will" Poor Jack. Why would someone get mad at a puppy for having an accident? It breaks my heart.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Venting You are totally right. People dont' realize the amount of work and patience that it takes for house breaking. All they see is a cute face and figure they can dress him/her up and have them as an accessory. Sad but it seems to happen way too much.

| Yep, I know what your saying, it Irks me to no end, sounds like you'll be finding Jack a new home, start looking now, she sounds like she has no patience and we all know IT WILL happen again.

| That's so sad, some people just don't have any patience. When you get a puppy, you have to remember it's just like having a newborn. They are not just a cute little face, they need lots of TLC. People should not make a commitment to love and care for any furbaby, if they are not willing to give 100%. I hope Jack finds a new forever loving home.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | This is why the shelters are filled. People can't be that stupid they just don't want to be bothered. It makes me so mad!

| i know how you feel i have a coworker too that bought a yorkie puppy ( tax refund) and it was a spur of the moment thing. well i have tried to help her with potty training (told her to come to YT) and given her other tips. i kept asking her if she had taken her to the vet yet and she kept saying she is going to make a app and never did. i finally had to stop asking her because it was making me so mad that she wasnt taking care of it. she says her hubby wants to get rid of it and i told her that i would take her if it comes to that, so im just waiting and hoping it's not to late .

| As you guys know, I took care of two 7 week old poms yesterday, overnight, and it was a huge reminder to me of how much WORK puppies are!!!! I mean, Sully was a frigg'n handful to say the least but look what a GREAT AWESOME FANTASTIC PERFECT dog he is now?!?! It's worth it but if you don't put in the work to begin with, it will not pay off in the long run. Kinda the "reap what you sow" mentality with puppies. What does this lady think...that puppies train themselves? Do children pottytrain themselves either? Umm.....

| I can't understand how anyone could ever get rid of a dog EVER, Smudger has chewed through our laptop wire (new one costs £90) he's chewed holes in my new clothes, chewed my old photo albums, chewed a hole in our expensive brand new rug AND scratched my brand new sofa. But I still love him so so much Some people just get dogs and don't realise how much hard work they will be, then they just get rid of them.

| i think some people are so enamoured by the idea of a cute little puppy that they fail to research how much work they are. they also see other well behaved dogs and think puppies just fall off the shelf like that, and not the time, patience and sleepless nights needed to train a well behaved dog. UNDER EDUCATION and about puppy ownership is definitely the problem!! that along with a lack of time and patience. |
