well i had kids before i was married so i didnt have the mothe in law problem. but i love my kids and all the kids around me . if I could change it i would have waited about 10 extra years to have them though.

I agreed if is meant to be you will have children. Then again if your husband and you don't want any kids is your decision. I have two kids and love them dearly, I always wanted kids. So tell MIL that if it is meant to be it will be.

hubby and i are at a point in our lives when we're getting constant pressure from the would-be grandparents to have kids. (nothing like an otherwise sane mother-in-law constantly reminding me that i'm no spring chicken). but we're seriously considering not having kids at all.

Yup. I think we've pretty much decided that we won't. Of course, you can never say never and we're still fairly young but I don't like the idea of subscribing to other people's 'rules' and we both feel that it's something we're not ready for/don't want. I am seriously considering adopting though at some point in the distant future as I am very concerned about the AIDS situation in Africa. If we do adopt, we will adopt children orphaned by AIDS who have no secondary or community family to take care of them. I was adopted and I think there is a lot to be said for a family being more than blood.

Alot of people think we're being selfish but I think it's the reverse to be honest. My mother in law drops hints all the time but she has other children who can give her grandchildren if she wants them. Don't feel under pressure from anyone. It's your life

I would like to think if I sent you my children it'd change your mind but i'd be afraid it'd send you to the doctor to get fixed asap lol..

I love being a both a Mother and a Grandmother but I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers who did not have children, so my daughter and her other cousins have always tried to be there for them and my parents to fill the gap.

With the greatest respect, why is it that people who don't have children are often seen as needing a 'gap' to fill?

I find that people feel the need to ask all sorts of personal questions. When you are single people ask "Why don't you have a boyfriend?" Once you get one they ask "When are you going to get married?" After you are married they ask "When are you going to have kids?" I guess people ask just to bring up conversation. No one seems satisfied that you can be happy in your life Now. I say make the decision you want. If you want to have kids have them. If you want to wait, Wait. If you decide you are fufilled without being a parent than that is fine too. You don't need kids to feel "whole."

I went from wanting 2 children to wanting no children. Then I decided recently I want 1. Now it's that time of the month and I want 10. But frankly, I don't really like kids. I like babies, but most kids I know I can't wait to get away from (go ahead and yell..haha).
